Leopard Trails Wilpattu

Staff were nice - we saw a leopard and plenty of different birds . They had also made a monumental effort to restore the site after it had got washed away in the floods 5 weeks earlier

The team were very nice so hard to say this but they have 3 fundamental issues. 1. This is unbelievably expensive for what it delivers, it really isa no where near the advertised 5 star description. I booked this as the high light of our holiday expecting ( naively) something a bit like the african experiences we have had for similar prices. The quality of the site just is not there. I am completely shocked by the disconnect between the cost and the experience of this site. The original tent we had ( tent 5) was nothing like the pictures on booking .com ( small but had aircon , though it was 5 ft from the bed and had the power of an industrial chiller so we could not use it, although night 2 we were moved to a better tent ( like the pics on booking.cm) . Plus for the price i expected all inclusive then got landed with a large bill for the safari and food on site. 2. There is absolutely nothing to do at the camp site, due to a miscommunication with booking.com we arrived at 1.00pm in time for the 2.00pm safari and was told there was no safari in the afternoon so we went to our tent and read, there is nothing else to do 3. The jungle safari s driving around tracks with jungle on either side in the hope of catching an animal on the track, which we did for 12 hours the following day. Very, very bumpy , ( great off road driving ) , this is very very different to other safaris and not to everyones taste as it is literally racing along jungle tracks.

AC in the tent. Hot water for shower. Comfortable bed. Delicious food. Attentive staff. The Safari with Raj was incredible!

The safari was great as we were lucky enough to see elephants, a bear, a leopard, water buffalo etc with a really informative and fun guide (Malmi). The tent suite was great for four adults (mum, dad and two young adult kids).

The communication leading up to the stay. The information regarding payment is not clear on Booking.com; the only T's & C's info relates to the cancellation policy, not the payment policy. I expected to pay on arrival but Leopard Trails Whatsapp'ed me two weeks beforehand demanding payment in full or the booking would be cancelled.

Leopard trails was a fantastic experience. The staff are amazing and our guide Malmi was the ultimate professional. He really made our whole stay shine. We saw all the big animals the park has to view and many more interesting creatures as well. The food is delicious the rooms are luxurious and it was a pleasure all round.

The booking process was a complete pain and involved many more texts and phone conversations than was necessary. This part of the process should be more professional.

A place used to be ok at some point of time, but well in need of proper maintenance.

The price for the night is way off the actual benefits you receive. Safari is charged extra at a very expensive rate as well. All of the facilities are worn and in need of maintenance.

Friendly staff and stylish, comfortable tents

Its significantly overpriced with all sorts of additional (hidden) charges and fees which i dont think is fair given how much the room rate is. Compared to other places in Sri Lanka the value for money is really not good. Also be aware that there are no facilities whatsoever (no pool, lounge, library etc) so you either go on safari or sit in your tent the whole day. Again, I would expect a lot more given the price point.
