Mar Traditional Mansion

La posizione della casa è eccellente: abbastanza comoda per raggiungere alcune delle spiagge più famose di Creta come Balos, Elafonissi e Falasarna, ma anche vicinissima (7-15 km) a calette più piccole, bellissime e riparate dal vento, come Loutraki, Marathi e Stavros. In soli 15 minuti di auto si arriva nella splendida città di Chania, e in circa un'ora si può visitare Rethymno, un'altra perla dell’isola. La penisola di Akrotiri abbiamo scoperto essere una meraviglia, sia per le calette dalle acque trasparenti (non siamo riuscite a visitarle tutte, ad esempio Seitan Limana ci risulta essere molto bella anche se non di facile accesso), che per i vari monasteri presenti, incastronati in paesaggi molto suggestivi. La casa è molto bella, ben tenuta, molto pulita e dotata di tutti i comfort (aria condizionata, lavastoglie, lavatrice...). Possiede inoltre una piscina esterna privata davvero piacevole, ad uso esclusivo. Abbiamo sfruttato molto gli spazi all’aperto, sia per la piscina che cenando spesso fuori grazie alla presenza di un comodo tavolo e di un barbecue. Un ringraziamento speciale va alla Sig.ra Maria e ad Alina, proprietarie gentilissime, che ci hanno accolto con grande calore offrendoci un pranzo delizioso a base di prodotti tipici locali all’arrivo, e lasciandoci anche dei piccoli doni al momento della partenza. In sintesi: casa e posizione perfette, esperienza da consigliare vivamente!

This villa is absolutely amazing. The owners have put their hearts and souls into renovating this beautiful villa is immaculate and has absolutely everything you could possibly need. The hosts are wonderful, kind and very helpful. Tbe area is beautiful and neighbours are kind. Everything you nèed is on your doorstep and there is a bus stop very close to the villa and ot cost €2 to get to Chania. They operate very regularly..

The villa is stunning, with specious and well appointed rooms that offers all the comforts of homes the highlight of course, is the gorgeous pool, which provided perfect spot to relax and soak up the sun. Maria prepared the incredible feast for us upon arrival. It was true taste of Cretan cuisine.

For us as a Family that have been to Crete many times, to be situated in the middle of traditional greek village with every facility needed with in walking distance & with out needing to use the car every day made it a most relaxing holiday

The property is found in a quiet area which made the stay enjoyable especially with children and very close to the centre and many beaches. The property has three spacious rooms, fully air conditioned and very nice kitchen/dining and sitting room area. We were a group of five people and a toddler and we were very comfortable. The home has a traditional greek atmosphere, which made the stay even more enjoyable. The cleanliness of the property and pool was outstanding. The stay exceeded our expectations. We were greeted by the nicest family who welcomed us with open arms. Our flight was delayed and as soon as we arrived, we had a homemade traditional greek dinner which was delicious and the fridge fully stocked (at no additional cost) ! During our stay we were surprised with homemade cheese pastries. Maria (owner of property) and Alina (her niece) were absolutely welcoming; such a kind lovely family with a heart of gold. They made sure toys were there for our toddler and even played with her whilst we settled in the apartment and had our dinner. We definitely recommend this property, you will not be disappointed.

Our stay at Mar Traditional Villa was superb. Maria was a fantastic host and very, very kind. We were welcomed with an amazing array of home cooked Cretan food when we arrived, and she came over with a massive and totally delicious moussaka, still warm in the tin ,half way through our holiday! We used the pool and bbq, which were both excellent, and the house itself has been tastefully restored by Maria, and is even better than the photos. We were an extended family of 6, and didn’t hire a car. The buses are excellent, every 1/2 hour to Chania, with a bus stop just 2 minutes walk up the road from the house. There are buses every 2 hours to the beach at Marathi also. There is giros taverna in the village within 5 mins walk, which was excellent value and delicious. There are 3 mini markets in the village, as well as 2 butchers and a bakery. What more do you need! Chania itself is a beautiful town, with excellent restaurants serving local seafood and Cretan dishes….we went there times, and still so much more to see. We will definitely be visiting again.

The only slight downside was the lack of air conditioning in one bedroom, but with the 2 electric fans provided it was fine.

Maria was friendly,the location was very good just 5 min from the airport and the mansion was tidy and very clean.

It would be better with a jacuzzi or a pool in the yard.
