There was a mold problem in the apartment I stayed at which smells a bit bad.. I’m sure the owner took care of it

It was a most disappointing stay, in a substandard property. But Marco did help with my late arrival, I couldn’t access the property as the key was broken; he did turn up late to get me into the building and room. He also gave me the loan of a phone charger. Mind you, he did accuse me of breaking the key.

I was awoken at 7am to an almighty whoosh like sound. On investigation, in my bear feet, I discovered that sewage had somehow travelled down the shower and onto the bathroom floor. I couldn’t use the bathroom, not even the toilet. I actually had to leave the building and find a local bar to use the toilet. I cancelled my second night. But to add insult to injury when I requested both nights to be refunded both bookings.com and karulli house refused to refund my first night. I’m disappointed that I had to write several letters with photos to no avail. I paid for a bathroom that wasn’t functioning and available to me, not to mention the health hazard. How is this service, how can bookings.com find this acceptable. In my opinion it is all about money, not customer service. Rip off the tourist, who cares. Not acceptable.

Excellent location close to all amenities of the city centre

Whoever is managing this property is cutting corners. The toilet seat was visibly broken and was left resting on the toilet, as if to pretend it wasn't broken. There was a clipped toenail on the bathroom floor. The glass on the sink had dirt encrusted in it. The sheets had marks as if they had already been used. The bedside lamp wouldn't work since it had a plug but no working socket for it. We pointed out the issues to the administration on arrival, but nothing was fixed during our 1-night short stay; yet they asked us not to leave a negative review in exchange for a 20% discount on a future next stay.
