Thingvellir Cabin/Chalet

This cabin was the perfect place for us to stay – we are not as mobile as we once were – but there was an easy walk down to the lake, and it is perfectly placed for days out further afield and nights spent watching the stars and planets and the northern lights which we saw several nights of our stay - Selfoss is a short drive away where there are plenty of places to buy supplies - the cabin was well stocked with things like salt and condiments which make a self-catering stay so much easier – from the visitor book it looked like most people only stayed a few days but we stayed nearly 2 weeks and really enjoyed our time there. Luke was a super responsive host.

The cabin was very clean and had thoughtful touches to it, such as board games and firewood for the wood stove. The radiators were all turned on to warm up the house for our arrival, which was an unexpected bonus. It was very peaceful and relaxing and we had a great time. The instructions for arrival were very thorough and the host was easy to contact. Very well run cabin.

The key safe box was very frozen during arrival and departure. With Icelandic winters, it may be a good idea to move the safe box to a more sheltered location out of the wind and ice.

We loved the location and the hot tub! Far enough out of the way that it was quiet but still plenty to do around us.

The host was so kind and friendly. Always available to answer our questions if we needed. The cabin was super clean, convenient location to sites. Quiet The best place to view the northern lights.

The hot tub, the quiet tranquil location on a private road. The wildlife, comfy bed, spacious area, the fridge freezer with crushed ice function. It was amazing.

I can only say good things about our stay - from way before we arrived, as communication with the owner Luke was the best I've ever had on Booking - he was mega responsive and extremely helpful! The place itself was magical - I could have easily just stayed there the entire four days!! Such a gorgeous place, with great amenities - we really appreciated the kitchen, it was way better than you normally get in holiday lets, and particularly helpful since we made our own food every day (bc the location is rather remote, and also to save money. This worked out perfectly - we also didn't feel like driving anymore after a long day of exploring). The hot tub was huge and such a great thing to have (actually, that was the main reason for me booking this - it was wonderful!). Getting there was easy, parking right by the cabin and you can walk down to the lake. I would 100% recommend this cabin for anyone wanting to explore this part of Iceland!!!!

Everything. We definitely recommend everyone this beautiful cabin. The cabin had everything we needed. It’s cosy, the beds are comfortable, and we were really satisfied with the cleanliness, the location, the size, and the quality of the furniture, utensils, appliances and so on, and also with the treatment the host provided to us.
