Zimmer Einrichtung ist eher minimal

Das Zimmer war bereits bezugsbereit trotz früherer Anreise. So konnten wir gleich die nähere Umgebung erkundschaften. Den Mietwaten konnten wir direkt vor dem Guesthouse parkieren. Die Gegend ist sehr ruhig. Das Nachtessen haben wir im Restaurant Sitio do Forno genossen. Das Restaurant ist der HAMMER und hat unseren Aufenthalt gerettet (siehe unten)

Wir haben dieses Guesthouse im Rahmen einer 28-tägigen Portugal-Rundreise besucht. Nach über 12 verschiedenen Hotels können wir leider sagen: Dies war die schwächste Unterkunft unserer Reise. Die Guesthouse Umgebung (hinten) ist verwahrlost und entspricht nicht den Fotos auf booking.com Kommunikation & Service: Der Name „Casa Presente“ ist leider irreführend. Die Kommunikation findet ausschließlich über WhatsApp statt; man bekommt nur die Frühstücksfrau am Morgen früh zu Gesicht. Es wirkt anonym und wenig einladend – „Casa NON-Presente“ würde den Servicecharakter deutlich besser beschreiben. Ich bin mir bis heute nicht sicher, ob ich per Whatsapp mit einer KI kommuniziert habe oder einer echten Person. Frühstück (das schlechteste der gesamten Reise): Die Idee, das Frühstück aus drei Varianten per Whatspp vorzubestellen, klingt theoretisch gut, die Umsetzung ist jedoch mangelhaft. Qualität: Der Kaffee war schlichtweg ungenießbar. Eine Nespresso Maschine für 100 Euro würde das Problem beheben. Zubereitung: Meine Frau bestellte den „Sweet Start“ (French Toast). Dieser war ungenießbar, da er fast im Butter geschwommen ist und komisch nach Zimt geschmeckt hat. Mein Ei war mega hart und der Salat hat einfach nicht zusammengepasst. Zusammenstellung: Was man letztlich tatsächlich serviert bekommt, steht in keinem Verhältnis zu den Beschreibungen der Varianten (Savory Sunrise, Healthy Pleasures, Sweet Start). Fazit: Wer Wert auf persönliche Gastfreundschaft und ein ordentliches Frühstück legt, sollte diese Unterkunft meiden. In Portugal gibt es für diesen Preis weitaus bessere Optionen mit echtem Service und einem ordentliche Frühstück.

Sympathieke gastvrouw. Zeer verzorgd ontbijt met verscjillende keuzes. Ruim voldoende en mogelijkheid tot meer. Zeer mooie ontbijtruimte.

Niks op aan te merken. Was wel wennen dat toiletpapier niet mag doorgespoeld worden. Wat trouwens op verschillende locaties het geval was. Maar alles went🙂

I struggle to reconcile our experience with the positive reviews. This was our only disappointing accommodation on the rota vicentina trail (at about 120 euros per night). Relative to what we've experienced along the trail, at 50 euros it would still be a passable experience, but at least then you'd get what you pay for. The room was nowhere near the description: dark, unwelcoming and in need of proper maintenance, with a moldy bathroom on top. You could tell that there had been a heavy mold problem in there, and they just half washed the walls as high as they could without using a high enough ladder, so they stopped a third of the way up, which is funny if you think about it. The view from the window of the first rooms is, well, an ugly wall, which is less funny. The beautiful garden paraded in the description was anything but. While trying to understand how we could get it so wrong on this one (because booking scores are usually pretty solid), I scrolled through the comments and saw a few people complaining that there was no soap or anything like that (and that complaint comes around over the years). The owner's answer for this (and other similar complaints) is "we're a small operation, we do what we can". Which would be very much understandable if the house wasn't fully booked, for at least a month to come, at the same prices we had. I'm not trying to play accountant, and the absence of soap wasn't a problem for us or anything but I find the "we're a small operation so we can't afford soap" excuse a bit insulting, and the stinginess hard to understand at that price point. Fortunately I was there with a friend, so we laughed about the experience quite a bit, especially about how much of a shipwreck it would have been if we were there as a couple.
