Casa Minerva

Excellent little place for a relaxing few days! Could not recommend highly enough. It has everything you could need to enjoy your stay here at Holbox Island. Great location and close to the beach too.

I arrived on the last ferry and that wasn't a problem for them. It's about a 10/15 min walk from ferry terminal. Location is good, a few minutes from main streets and beach. The room was nice with nice decor, little soaps and a well equipped kitchenette. I didn't need AC but I imagine when it's warmer, it would be great.

It is quite noisy with what I assume is the boiler turning on and off throughout the night and it feels like anyone chatting outside are in the room.

Minerva is amazing!! The place is very clean and nice and quiet, I had everything needed for cooking :)

Es un lugar muy cómodo y espacioso y decorado con muy buen gusto. Álex y la Sra. Minerva son muy gentiles y te dan las mejores recomendaciones de lugares y tours.

Tiene poca iluminación natural y hay un poco de ruido, creo q le hace falta mantenimiento al frigobar q suena muy fuerte y también se escucha muy fuerte la bomba de agua que está al lado del baño. También, le hace falta una limpieza profunda a la cafetera que tiene restos de café quemados en la plancha y por fuera de la jarra. Y también creo que sería un plus que ofrecieran limpieza al menos día por medio.

We had an amazing time staying at Casa Minerva for a full week! For the cost, we couldn’t have asked for a better spot. It’s mere blocks away from the town and beach, but not too close where it was noisy in the slightest. We really wanted a fridge and ability to reheat leftovers and it provided all of that, as well as a coffee maker and coffee. Our AC did start leaking water at one point but the hosts sent someone in to fix it within minutes and we had no more issues the rest of the time. They only gave us one key for the place but when we asked for another, she offered to hide her personal key near the door for us to use if needed which was very sweet of her and worked out great. The water pressure in the shower was excellent, and the spout to rinse our feet was a plus too. There is no outdoor space to hang out in but that was seriously not a problem as the entire island was our backyard! You shouldn’t go to Holbox just to hang out at your place the whole time anyway, too much to do in town! It was also encouraging to have our money go to a local family instead of a big cooperate resort. This place is great for someone who likes to feel like a part of the local community when traveling! It is a bit hard to find at first when you don’t know where you’re going, especially at night, but the hosts sent helpful photos of the pathway and door the day of, which was very appreciated. Overall a great experience, the hosts were very attentive and accommodating while giving us our own space.

The only thing I could think of that we could have used was a broom to clean up the sand that inevitably accumulated on the floor, and maybe a few extra towels since we were there so long. But these things were so minor it’s almost not worth mentioning here.

The apartment was clean. The air condition was cold. The kitchen has everything.
