Villa Wellia

Lovely villa with excellent hosts. Santa was a superb surfing instructor too and my family surfed twice a day with him at the AMA surf school where he got us reduced rates. We didn’t use any of the kitchen facilities but it was very spacious and well equipped if you wanted to self cater. Sam recommended a tuk tuk driver (Asanka) and we used him several times a day to get in to Weligama, also at reduced rates. The swimming pool is a great size and we had it to ourselves every time we used it.

The only negative about the villa is the yelping of the dogs next door, which unfortunately Sam and Santa can’t do anything about. We were woken up at dawn by them every day, but they settled down after a while and it didn’t spoil our stay as we were getting up early for surfing anyway.

Beatiful and clean location with a comfortable bed and a nice property. Some smaller shops and restaurants nearby and a lot of green nature surrounding the property. The hosts and housekeepers are super friendly and helpful and can give you a lot of recommendations depending on what you want to do around Weligama or in other areas of Sri Lanka! :) They also have some cute dogs! Would definitely recommend spending a few days here :)

I had an amazing stay at Villa Wellia with my girlfriend! The property had everything we needed to feel comfortable and relaxed. The outdoor spaces were definitely a highlight—having a private pool, sun terrace, and garden made it perfect for spending quality time together. The villa itself was super well-equipped. The kitchen had everything you’d need, and the bedrooms and bathrooms were spotless and really cosy. The room we stayed in had a private, massive bath that could easily fit four people. It was in an area surrounded by plants, completely covered on all sides but open to the sky. It felt like having a bath in the jungle—something I’ve never seen before. It was such an amazing and romantic experience! Another thing worth mentioning is the strong-pressure hot shower. This is not always a given in Sri Lanka, but if you love a good shower like I do, you’ll be very pleased here. We also had the chance to take private surfing lessons with Santa, the owner of the property, at Ama Surf School. He was hands down the best guide I’ve come across on the island. I’ve tried surfing lessons elsewhere before, but nothing compared to this experience—Santa’s guidance was outstanding, and it made the lessons so much fun and effective! The staff were extremely polite and helpful, always making sure everything was taken care of. Having private security and housekeeping on-site for every request was a huge plus—it really made the whole experience feel even more luxurious and stress-free. Overall, it’s a brilliant place to stay, and we’d 100% come back again!

We recently had the pleasure of staying at this beautiful villa, and I can't recommend it enough. The standout feature is the unique jungle bathroom, which truly enhances the experience of being surrounded by nature. Everything in the villa is spotless, making for a very comfortable stay. The spacious open kitchen and dining area are stunning, perfect for preparing meals and enjoying them together. The exceptional design of the villa promotes relaxation and tranquility. The pool area is ideal for chilling out, providing a serene atmosphere to unwind. Additionally, the owners are incredibly kind and helpful, going above and beyond to ensure a fantastic stay. They helped us rent a scooter, order a tuktuk and reccommend nice places. This villa is a hidden gem, and I can't wait to return!

We stayed for a couple of nights, and all I can say is, just wow! We booked the honeymoon room with the outdoor shower and bathtub, and it was absolutely beautiful. The villa itself looks amazing, super clean, and the surrounding garden is a pure oasis of peace. You can really see how much work and passion the owners put into making their guests’ stay unforgettable. For example, they recommended and arranged a round trip to see the most beautiful places in Sri Lanka and even organized a scooter rental that was ready for us upon arrival. We also wanted to try surfing, and the owners recommended Ama Surfing School—it was definitely worth it, such a great group of people! Overall, staying at Villa Wellia was a unique experience.
