Kuiseb House

From the moment we arrived at Kuiseb House, we were warmly welcomed by our host Sandra and her friendly golden retriever, who eagerly showed us around and made us feel right at home. The open plan, light filled house is in a superb location on Kuiseb Street in walking distance to excellent shops and restaurants. The house has breathtaking views of both the city and the surrounding Auas Mountains. The interior is beautifully designed by Sandra herself, creating a comfortable and thoughtfully laid out co-living space with plenty of inviting areas to relax, both indoors and outdoors. We loved the variety of amenities: a modern kitchen, a cozy TV area, a stylish dining room, an outside braai area with stunning mountain views, inviting swimming pool, a hot tub with spectacular views and even a sauna. There are multiple terraces and reading corners on different levels, plus fireplaces that make the place extra inviting. However, the various levels and stairs might be challenging for guests with mobility issues. A special highlight was the honest gin bar, a unique and fun touch! Sandra and her husband live nearby and were always available to assist with anything we needed. A big thank you also to Jafet, who kept everything clean and informed us about the available laundry service and always greeted us with a warm smile. Overall, Kuiseb House truly felt like a home away from home. It’s stylish, welcoming and full of character. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a unique stay with beautiful views and exceptional hospitality.

Our en-suite bedroom was comfortable, though it could benefit from a bit more toilet privacy. The WiFi worked well throughout the house and while parking was slightly tight for larger vehicles, it was still manageable. Kitchen co sharing can be both a practical solution and a potential challenge. While it fosters interaction among guests and allows for a homely, self-catering experience, issues can arise when larger groups dominate the space. These groups may unintentionally “take over,” making it harder for others to access appliances, utensils, or prepare meals comfortably. However, with a bit of communication, mutual respect, and flexible scheduling, kitchen co-sharing can work well. Fortunately, in our case, everyone coped graciously, and the experience remained pleasant despite occasional crowding.

The open toilet is a bit uncomfortable if sharing the room with someone. Would have appreciated a sliding door, but there are guest bathrooms around the house to compensate.

Accueil chaleureux et personnel aux petits soins. Le lieu est un havre de paix, suspendu sur les hauteurs de la capitale. C’était notre dernier soir en Namibie avec un ami, et rien de mieux pour terminer cette parenthèse enchantée ! Merci et à la prochaine je l’espère ;)

Rien à redire, à part un léger dysfonctionnement du bain chaud extérieur ; rien de grave cela dit.
