Ferienwohnung Burgfrieden Brixen with BrixenCard

Wir waren als Gruppe unterwegs und haben den Vormittag meist im schönen Garten genossen. Durch die Lage im Hang ist es auch an super heißen Tagen in der Wohnung selbst kühl, wenn die Mittagshitze im Garten nicht mehr erträglich ist. Die Gastgeberin ist super zuvorkommend und hat uns sich mehrmals vergewissert, ob unsererseits noch Wünsche offen sind.

Das einzige was zu bekritteln ist, dass die Beschilderung des Fußweges in die Stadt nicht besonders gut ist. Aber mit ein bisschen Erkundungswillen findet man die Unterführung super schnell und ist dann in ein paar Minuten mitten in der Stadt!

The apartment was clean and parking was easy. The kitchen was full equipped.

It is a bit complicated to sleep well as you hear the train passing by every now and then. Furthermore, three out of the five beds are just too short and narrow for adults, even for not tall people. The shower has no screen and it’s difficult not to spill all the water, and no gel or shampoo were available.

Astrid was such a kind host & there to greet us after our long journey. She made sure the heating was on & we had everything we needed. As the week progressed, we could see how well equipped the flat was, and how comfortable. Enjoying the benefits of the Brixen card is also a huge plus, as you can travel everywhere in the region for free during your stay, including a daily trip on the ski lifts. The lovely Aquarena (swimming pool complex) is also free with this card, which most hotel & holiday home owners provide for their guests. Brixen is very centrally placed to travel to Toblach, Meran and Brenner. Each of these Alpine valleys is worth exploring: we chose to take the train out and cycle back on the excellent network of dedicated paths which is such a feature of the region. Walkers will also enjoy well signed routes for every level of fitness. I've attached a map to give you some idea of the train routes available. Although train travel is free with the Brixed card, there is an additional 7-euro charge per bike on these journeys.

It wasn't a problem for us, but some guests may find the train noise irritating. And the distance from the town centre (about 1.5km). We had booked electric bikes for our stay and relished the whizz downhill every morning, together with an easy ascent for the return trip. Those who are on foot may find the distance off-putting. However, in our case, we appreciated being away from the bustle of the town centre, together with the views of the Plose mountain. Burgfriedengasse is handy for the bus and train station, local shops (Poli supermarket is a regional gem) and perfect for us.

That the usage of the garden was possible

It’s incredible loud, you can hear the motorway, the train and every step from the people leaving upstairs. The apartment is very dark, almost no sunlight is coming through.
