It is a perfect experience for those who want to experience the local and culture of the Netherlands. Anna's breakfasts are especially good. I want to go again towards the summer and ride my bike.

We liked the location, the accommodation and the proximity to amenities in Meppel. It was as described, comfortable and easy in which to spend time the few hours we were there. Unfortunately however...

...we are a clinically vulnerable couple (immuno-compromised), who since Jan '23 have accumulated over 4 months of travel in Europe, predominantly using booking.com. In all that time we have never come across hosts so determined to ignore our need to keep ourselves safe by denying us the ability to eat in our room; we messaged ahead to ask for cooperation with this need, but were told 'no, there isn't the space' and 'we have a place to eat' - but when it came to breakfast yesterday morning, we were shown to a small windowless space, where other people were eating and where the CO2 ppm spiked dramatically in the very short time we took to pick up our breakfast and carry it outside. We are in our 70s, but received no help to transport our breakfast into a safe environment - in addition paving outside was being laid/renewed, so there were areas where it was missing, uneven surfaces and an absence of risk management. We were lucky it was a dry morning, if cold. We don't expect hosts to necessarily take, or agree with, our personal views about how to manage our own clinical risk, but we don't expect hosts to prioritise their own personal biases over our safety. That they prioritised their own personal bias, was amply demonstrated by the fact that there WAS indeed the space to have eaten breakfast in our room.
