The Tenthola

The Tenthola is a perfect stay in Kandy! The hotel is very neat and tidy, the rooms are very good with very comfortable beds. In the morning you start the day with a beautiful view on the terrace with a traditional homemade breakfast. The owner is a very good man! He knows the best places to see and if you want, he can arrange you drivers and guides- which was perfect for us! We made a ton of great memories thanks to him and the staff.

We can‘t think of a thing

Viper was very helpful and an engaging host, sharing historical stories about SL. He made the experience special. The location is off the hustle and bustle of the city, which was perfect for us. Breakfast was delicious; both continental and Sri Lankan. We had a wonderful time at Tenthola and in Kandy.

Tenthola Inn is one of the best places I stayed at in Sri Lanka. The view from the large balcony where guests mingle and relax is just spectacular. The rooms opening up to the balcony all have a spectacular view and are very comfortable. I enjoyed breakfasts and dinners at Tenthola prepared by the owners wife, who is an outstanding cook. Viper aka Edwin, the owner is super helpful and a treasure trove of stories and information as it relates to Kandy and Sri Lanka. I can highly recommend Tenthola.

Excellent host who went out of his way to look after us. He is knowledgeable about Sri Lanka and keen to share everything he knows about Kandy as well as the local flavors. His wife made us an excellent dinner too! And we had a large room ... all the rooms lead out onto the balcony with a great view. We felt very at home.

Just a note. Check the quote on Booking.com. Ours did not include VAT (15%) and a service charge, or breakfast. Also, note (not an issue, just be aware) that the room is not serviced daily.

Beautiful view over kandy and the mountains. This place is absolutely fantastic for spending a couple of days. Very clean, with a/c. We sat for hours on the balcony, drinking tea and reading books

I can't recommend this place highly enough. Wish I could have stayed longer. Location is ideal, being within walking distance of the city centre and many other Kandy landmarks. The hosts, Viper, his wife Lalanee (fantastic cook) and their assistant Jagarth are very friendly and helpful. Viper is a 'walking encyclopaedia' on all things 'Kandy' and a proud Sri Lankan, being a former air force captain as well as a champion rugby player (national level) in his youth. Very interesting chap! I stayed in the 'superior single room' which had a private bathroom and access to a very well appointed kitchen which (like the entire property) was kept spotlessly clean. The view of the surrounding mountains (including the famous 'Knuckles') is stunning from the main deck. The beautifully maintained garden is full of flowering plants and is a haven for many colourful birds and other interesting wildlife (including a large porcupine, that I was lucky enough to see). I will certainly stay at 'Tenthola', the next time I visit the beautiful city of Kandy.
