"Safe, spacious roomed accomodation that is close to mombasa cbd."

8.0

Good environment, excellent response from staff, secure space, spacious rooms, and awesome food. Friendly people. Great view of the ocean.

Rooms closer to the ocean have a lot of mosquitoes but good news is that you have a mosquito net to sleep inn and enough doom spray provided by management.

The host refused to let me check in, using the excuse that they were full... I suspect it was simply a holiday and he didn't want to make the effort. I wasted time, energy, and money and had to find an alternative.

The staff is very flexible and friendly, responsive. They waited for me as I arrived late in the evening, and They let me change my booking with no issues.

The place is quite isolated and there is no breakfast available during the weekends (i only found out once i arrived) The room I stayed in had a glass panel above the door looking at the main corridor, with the security lights on: it meant that it was impossible to have darkness in the room, I had to sleep with an eye mask and earplugs. I am sure it can work okay for some, considering the low price, but it was not for me.

- Quiet location - Nice and flexible staff - Located inside a kind of university campus with a local vibe see no - Room totally sufficient with new AC and green view

the location requires you to rent a motorbike or take a tuktuk to the centre or beach (100 shilling)

"As a solo traveler, this was a great base to visit Mombasa and surrounding areas."

10.0

By way of context, the facility is for training marine students, and the hostel business is an afterthought. There are multiple buildings with dormitory-type rooms, and BMA is renting out such spare rooms. When I was there, no students were in the building I stayed in, which probably had hundreds of rooms. The rooms are small, perhaps 100 square feet. The facility is gated and has guards, but the place is sprawling, quasi-industrial in certain regards, and deserted in the evenings after students left. Given its location, guests need to take tuk-tuks or cabs, easy to get, to visit attractions. Within the facility, I had periodic access to two nice swimming pools and the cafeteria. My room had a balcony that overlooked a channel, where boats came and went at all times. For certain travelers, such as myself, the setup is perfect but it is certainly not right for everyone.

You have to pay the room bill by M-pesa or possibly cash (check in advance, I got conflicting feedback). Credit cards aren't accepted. Wireless was a little inconsistent and worked best outside the rooms in the main area closer to the entrance. Rooms did not seem to have hot water.

The hotel is located in a college. I was very happy to see a swimming pool before I checked in, but I didn't expect that the swimming pool in the school was super great. There are two swimming pools, one large and one small. The small one is at least four meters deep. I was looking for a swimming pool to practice free diving, but I didn't expect it to be so suitable. It's great. The room is clean and has air conditioning.
