Willow Cottage - 3 Bedroom

I stayed in these cottages as a child and fell in love with Louisburgh, I've been returning every summer for the past 20 years to the area. The cottages are so cute, have everything you need and are so close to the village. I was really excited to share the experience with my friends during a birthday weekend this year.

Unfortunately, there were a number of things that left a bad taste in my mouth. First of all, I had three cottages booked, all three bedroom, I was contacted by phone the day before check in and asked to downgrade to a two-bed because a "booking.com error" had placed a family of seven in a two-bed cottage. The staff member offered me some money back if I swapped but it was less than the price difference had I originally booked a two bed. So I said no thank you unless they could offer us a better deal. To this they responded "no problem, I'll ask another guest". I was frankly amused that they were asking guests to solve their error, without compensation, and I laughed it off. But the cherry on top was that while I had asked for, and been granted, late checkout on one of the three cottages, I received a text on the morning of, and was told that there was a previously undisclosed charge of €20 PER HOUR for this. I couldn't help but wonder if they added this charge because I'd refused to downgrade cottages. Ironically, we had asked for late checkout so people could stay connected to the wifi for longer, which my friend informed me didn't even work in her cottage. I'm so disappointed as I have always loved these cottages so much growing up, but the lack of professionalism and customer service would definitely put me off booking again.

Lovely traditional cottage.Spotless clean,beds really comfortable.Local to everything you need, beautiful area.

Would have been nice some coal/log to light the stove on arrival.

Perfect little cottage for a family or friends. It’s so authentically Irish and pulls you back to a simple time.

There was loads of cooking facilities like pots, pans and utensils- but no salt or sugar or any very basic non perishables.

Stunning cottage, everything you could possibly want for an enjoyable stay, clean, comfortable, tranquil, pet friendly . Exceeded all expectations. Most definitely will return.

I could not fault anything.
