It was secluded, gorgeous. A quiet get away. Remember, this is basic needs. No water, minimal bathroom. But a cabin in the woods. An absolute PERFECT romantic get away for you and your partner.

The cabin was clean and cozy. Pet friendly is a plus for us. The solar lamps were great too.

The cabin was deep in the woods, not locked. Bed was not clean looked as if some just woke up in it! Needless to say we did not stay!! I requested a refund with a lot of push bay.

Myself and my partner had travelled from Europe to enjoy what we thought would be a unique and beautiful getaway at Rustic Ridge. It lived up to it's Rustic name immediately. Firstly, we arrived at 8pm after a long drive to the area, excited to have dinner that we'd picked up nearby. We arrive, and the property hadn't been turned over from the previous guests, we get in touch with the owner who reassures us this is not ok and it will be solved imminently which we understand at first these things can happen and we're grateful for the response and resolution. We have to vacate the property and give him half an hour to turn the place over. We come back one hour later by which time it is dark, to a property that looks as though a child had been sent in to clean up. The bed was remade, we pull the blanket back to find hairs and mud and dirt, there wasn't even an attempt to try to disguise that these weren't new sheets. The tables weren't wiped, the oven was absolutely filthy, the fridge unplugged and near no plugs. Only two or three plugs available for the entire place it was practically pitch black in there we had to use our phones torch to see anything. The floor was filthy and the bathroom is a porta-loo in the woods and absolutely disgusting. We finally get to sleep, not wanting to touch a thing as we're sleeping in previous guests sheets, during the night the generator for electricity sounds an alarm which won't go off until we completely unplug it, waking us up and keeping us up all night. There was no Wifi as promised, cups and cutlery are plastic and had dirt in them. When we tried to call the host back and message him he put the phone down and ignored us. This was all done knowingly on his part and we feel humiliated and disgusted by his behaviour. We will not be returning (even with his very kind silencing offer of 20 percent discount on future stays!)

Everything, apart from escaping the next day.

Location is good. The property much better during cold season.

There's existing power. Power is not enough for the whole night.

The rustic feel was great for those who like to rough it! Loved the porch during the rain and the peace and quiet of the outdoors. Totally secluded which was perfect. Perfect setting to watch (downloaded) Evil Dead original film. Close to great wineries and view of Keuka Lake. Main Deck Restaurant is closeby and highly recommended!

It can get warm in the cabin for summer, so definitely keep windows open! A fan would be helpful. Beds are lined with plastic, so they stayed too warm for summer. Also huge pee stain under sheet on large bed which was unexpected so we had to sleep on a blanket. Do not forget your flashlight!!

Its right in the woods and off the grid but still near the lake and nearby towns. Communication with the property was prompt.

We missed the description mentioning the property didn't have any water or proper kitchenette, so no sink, fridge, shower etc. It is way more primitive than we thought! I think the price is too high for what it is, but once you get used to its basic facilities it was nice. The orange plastic fence could be replaced by a wooden fence, because this obstructed the beautiful natural feel of the place. And we could've done with instruction on how to turn on the light.
