The location was excellent and one of the property’s strongest attributes. Varenna is a beautiful town, and the apartment is conveniently located near the waterfront, restaurants, ferries, and local attractions. The property itself has historic character and charm, and with proper maintenance, cleaning, and presentation, it has the potential to provide a very good guest experience.

The condition of the property did not match the expectations created by the listing photographs. We encountered numerous maintenance and cleanliness concerns, including deteriorated fireplace materials, cracked and patched surfaces, peeling paint, cobwebs, dust accumulation, mildew on exterior areas, worn furnishings, and very thin linens and towels. One sleeping area was not prepared upon arrival, creating confusion regarding the sleeping arrangements. We contacted management immediately upon arrival and delayed unpacking while considering whether to relocate. Although management sent cleaning staff, they ultimately concluded the property was consistent with the listing and declined any meaningful resolution. At this price point, we expected a property that more closely reflected the condition presented in the listing photographs.
