Absolutely terrible experience and their customer service was more like customer harassment. While the rooms look nice at first glance, many basic things do not work or are not functional. Throughout our stay, it felt like the hotel was constantly trying to extract or extort additional money wherever possible. Be extremely careful providing your credit card. I was charged twice for a room—over $2,500 USD—and one of my guests was also double-charged. The woman I was told manages finances was incredibly unhelpful. We went in circles all day with phone calls and messages that led nowhere. In the end, I had to file a credit card dispute to recover my money. I ended up having to freeze my credit card while there and order a replacement as I was terrified they'd randomly charge it again. I booked 21 rooms at Marella Cabo for a retreat. When I initially booked in June, the staff I communicated with seemed helpful and accommodating. I was told—in writing—that we could use the gym for afternoon sessions and the rooftop for meals and yoga. Months later, after everything was reserved, I was suddenly told we would need to pay to use the rooftop for meals. I pushed back and, after showing written confirmation, they finally agreed to honor the original promise. I also found out the gym was about 1/3rd of the size they said it was and there was no way we would have space for our guests in there, leaving me to scramble for a new location for our workshops. Despite also having written confirmation twice that we could use the rooftop for yoga without charge, I received threatening messages from staff right as a class was starting, saying we could not use the space unless we paid $1,500 USD. This forced me to replan the remainder of the retreat due to their false promises followed by last-minute threats and extortion tactics.

Every morning I woke up to random messages about “new rules.” Different guests received different rules at different times. Our group was quiet, respectful, and conscious, and we did not appreciate being treated this way. Beyond the customer service issues, the property itself has serious problems: Extremely loud: You can feel vibrations from cars on the major highway directly in front of the building. Pipes make loud squealing noises all night. No blackout curtains: Even at night, rooms are flooded with light even at night time. Sleeping past 6 a.m. is nearly impossible without an eye mask—honestly, two. Showers do not work properly: Our drain was clogged, and most units had constant oscillation between painfully hot and cold water. Internet is unusable: It drops every few minutes in many rooms. I had to hotspot all week just to check email. Hot tubs barely function: They are lukewarm at best. The instructions are wrong, and it took us four days to figure them out. Even then, they had to be turned on 90 minutes in advance. No complimentary cleaning: Housekeeping costs extra which they failed to mention until we checked in. 700 pesos charged for early check-in, even when rooms were empty. They advertise the beach as being 400 yards away, but in reality you must cross a major highway and then convince a hotel security guard at a luxury property to let you pass and have a 50/50 chance at best of them agreeing. Expect to take an uber to get to the beach. The rooftop is also very dark. After sunset it is almost pitch black, making meals difficult. If you ask concierge a simple question, you will often receive a generic copy-and-paste response that has nothing to do with what you asked. Overall, this experience was an absolute nightmare. I strongly advise against staying here—especially for retreats or group bookings—unless they completely replace their customer service team and invest in fixing the internet, water issues, soundproofing, and curtains.

Good location not too close to Cabo proper on the land side of the highway between Cabo and San José. Condos are very nice and spacious. Close to great beaches.

The sea view rooms in the lower building have a bit of road noise.
