Mandarin Escape By The Cohost Company

We absolutely loved the terrace overlooking the Joshua trees and the hills - the views were amazing, especially at sunset. The property has small rock formations you can climb right on site, which made it even more fun. We also enjoyed the fire pit on the terrace and the beautiful dark sky at night. The location felt remote and secluded in the best way: calm, quiet, safe, and with no traffic around. Being up on the hill gave us a wonderful sense of space and incredible views.

We were excited about this stay, especially because our son loves hot tubs and it was one of the main reasons we booked the property. Unfortunately, the hot tub wasn’t working properly - the jets and lights didn’t turn on, so it was basically just a warm bath outside. The house looked clean at first glance, but deeper cleaning wasn’t done well. Both ovens were very dirty, several surfaces (mirrors, window sills, around the kitchen sink) had visible dust and residue, and many kitchen items (plates, utensils, wine glasses, blender) still had greasy stains or food residue. We arrived on Thanksgiving and had to manually wash a large portion of the kitchenware before cooking, which was stressful. Some couch pillows were dirty, and both the daybed and main bed linens had hair on them, which made us question overall cleanliness. Also, the walls are extremely thin - we could hear the upstairs dishwasher, doors opening, and even quiet TV volume. This may matter for anyone staying with other families or larger groups. It’s a beautiful area and the house has potential, but for the price and for a holiday stay, we expected better maintenance, cleanliness, and overall comfort.

We liked everything about the mandarin escape. As soon as we walked in we were greeted with air conditioning which was amazing since it was 100 degrees. I loved all the windows and views. Plenty of outdoor space for relaxing, sunbathing, and yoga. The decor was so cute they definitely lived up to the name mandarin escape. The staff was very attentive and just a text away. Adding to favorites. Would definitely book again.
