Sunny Hostel

The manager who I communicated with by WhatsApp was lovely but sadly I didn’t get a chance to meet him in person. He was very apologetic about our negative experiences with the receptionist. You can buy gas and other camping / hiking equipment. It is about a 10 minute walk to a huge supermarket. There is aircon in the private room.

The receptionist was extremely rude to my partner and I from the start of our stay. Barely greeted us. Banged on our door at one point and every time we tried to communicate with him he yelled ‘NO ENGLISH’. This was despite the fact we tried to use Google Translate to the best of our abilities. He also refused to let us leave our luggage at the hostel while we went hiking in the Alay mountains. The location is very out of the centre - takes about 20ish mins by Yandex. So any savings you make by staying here are lost by the amount you spend on taxis. The private room had a bit of a strange smell.

Gebuchtes Zimmer war am Anreisetag nicht verfügbar. Für das Ersatzzimmer allerdings ohne Klimaanlage und Bad gab es einen Preisnachlass. Am zweiten Tag konnten wir aber in das gebuchte Zimmer umziehen. Es wird viel gebaut in der Gegend. Das wurde als Ursache für die vielen Stromausfälle genannt. Wir baten den Manager am zweiten Tag persönlich vorbei zu kommen, er kam aber nicht. Das Personal dort spricht kein Englisch, Informationen waren nur schwer bis gar nicht zu bekommen. Ob Frühstück zu erhalten ist war nicht rauszufinden. Die Lage ist dann auch doch etwas weit von Innenstadt entfernt.

Located pretty far from the town centre (but close to the bus station!) but I knew that when I booked and taxis very affordable. The private room with ensuite bathroom was clean and the bed was comfortable. A/c available. Really good deal for a stop over. Staff also very friendly. There’s a kitchen available for preparing food or make coffee.

It’s Kyrgyz culture but I don’t like leaving shoes at the entry in the open where everyone passes because you’re not allowed to take them to your room.

Basic hostel, close to airport, easy to catch Yandex

Our private bathroom was disgustingly dirty, I think they did not clean at all after the previous guests. The receptionist guy was unfriendly, did not even bother to say hello, just gave the key and show his hand to give the money, without saying any word. In the evening, we wanted to ask towels but he disappeared so we had to dry ourselves with the bed sheets which by the way were also dirty. We were expecting a nice stay after we exchanged some message with a person who was really nice and responsive but at the end we got disappointed

Hostess and husband very friendly and able to meet our requests. Her husband also assisted us to book a van to travel the next few days
