Basil Hostel

Very social hostel, there is a hostel chat which helps planning and connecting. The people working there are super helpful, funny and good hearted people. Many events and meet ups. Truely amazing. In the female dorm (where i stayed) were curtains, power sockets, small light and we had an ensuite bathroom. The hostel offers tours you can join (perfect as solo traveler without car). Well equipped kitchen, big living room and outdoor area to sit. I extended my stay to about 9 nights. You will not regret! Location is also great (Muscat has no real city center). There are many shops for Coffee and many amazing restaurants close by.

I loved all but if i need to give improvement ideas. I believe a shower curtain would make the bathroom less wet.

Der Besitzer ist sehr freundlich. Lage ist gut in der Nähe des Busstop & Foodmarket.

Leider hatten wir keine positive Erfahrung. Es war sehr dreckig, vor allem das Bad - hier wollte man gar nicht erst duschen gehen. Das Hostel ist inzwischen leider sehr runtergekommen. Wir waren froh, nur eine Nacht dort geplant zu haben und schnell wieder weiter zu können.

As this was my first solo trip I was pretty nervous tbh but here the host was so friendly and helpful plus the people to come to stay were also amazing. I got to meet people of 6+ nationalities and the experience was wonderful. It was above my expectations.

There was nothing to dislike tbh.

I think what makes this place best is the owner Basil himself. This guy created an unique travel friendly space in Masqat. I think he quite well understands what travelers need. The hostel is where you can calm down after a long day outside in the heat. The common space easily connects people as its just big enough but not to large to seperate people. You'll find travelers here trying to form groups to do tours and shares costs together.

I think the beds in the dormitory down stairs could use some extra touch. There was no dedicated plug, or light or some kind of shelf. We booked the room upstairs that has it, but two of us were placed in a different room due to overbooking.

Everything is good, the place is clean the people are very kindly special the owner mr.basil he is a great man. I think they are 11 out of 10
