Porini House

Das Hotel ist extrem schwer zu finden. Google Maps zeigt verkehrten Weg an. Liegt versteckt im Wald. Sehr einsam, sehr romantisch. Das Zimmer sauber und groß. Die Ruhe dort fantastisch. Die beiden Hausangestellten extrem hilfreich und bemüht. So wurde ich zu einem Ärztehaus in der Nähe begleitet und Medikamente von der Apotheke für mich geholt. Abends gab es landestypische Essen, was uns sehr geschmeckt hat. Der Strand der etwa 10min weiter weg ist, ist einsam und eignet sich wunderbar zum Schwimmen. Kaum ein Mensch unterwegs.

Unser Taxifahrer hat das Haus nicht gefunden. Wir erreichten auch kurzfristig niemand. So sind wir mit einem Taxifahrer am Rande des Nervenzusammenbruches fast eine Stunde umhergekurvt bis uns endlich jemand den Weg zeigte. Das Taxi ist ca 25 Euro billiger als der hauseigene Abholservice. Es gab keinen Safe, keine Klimaanlage, keinen Fön und das Frühstück war im Verhältnis zum Übernachtungspreis wirklich substandard. In der ersten Nacht hatten wir kein warmes Wasser. Das Bett ist sehr hart, uns hat das gepasst. Eine tolle Unterkunft für romantische Stunden, aber bei dem,was es insgesamt bietet, schlicht überteuert.

"Porini" means forest in Swahili. Human activity is almost absent here, instead wildlife greeted us. FORGET Zanzibar. The emerald Indian Ocean and sandy beach offered us peaceful walks along the shoreline, with only a few fishermen passing by. After spending a month in Tanzania, staying at Porini House was a true retreat, allowing us to escape from the hustle and bustle.

My overnight stay at Porini House was delightful. The hosts were welcoming and accommodating; ready to answer any questions about the area and provide recommendations on what to do, where to eat etc. Overlooking the Indian Ocean, my room was spacious and quiet. Its tall and netted windows allowed for the ocean breeze to easily penetrate and cool the room. Finally, the food was delicious. It consisted of an assortment of fresh and local produce. All in all, I highly recommend staying at Porini House. You won’t be disappointed.

We stayed at Porini House just for one night. It's a nice place to rest from the big city and to enjoy the wildlife and tranquility. Early in the morning we had guests - a group of monkeys and all the time were listening to different birds. The hosts were very friendly and hospitable. When we lost on our way to Porini House they kindly found us and escorted us to the place. The breakfast was very nice and big and for dinner they offer chicken or fish and ask if you are on a special diet.

The walk to the beach takes about 5-10 minutes, but it wasn't a problem. The sea was clean and nice to swim and there were only a few people there.

We loved our stay at Porini House. The owner is friendly and helpful and was easy to communicate with throughout. The rooms are brand new and modern, large and comfortable. We stayed on the 1st floor and had amazing views from the balcony outside the room of the treetops and the ocean. The beach is only a 3-5 minute walk away and it’s a great one with only a few fishermen around. We had dinner and breakfast at the property and enjoyed both. We plan to return.
