Hillside Hideaway Gudalur

We stayed in the dormitory rooms and the beds were very comfortable. It was nice to be away from the main road and we enjoyed being on the top floor. The staff were very helpful. The room and bathroom were clean and tidy.

Spacious rooms. Secure parking. Central location. Decent spot for a one-night stop over if visiting Mudumalai or Bandipur Tiger reserve.

One of the two rooms didn't have an AC, which was a surprise. No balconies, despite the potential of wonderful views.

Prior to travel, they insist on receiving an advance payment, but upon arrival, they demand the full amount and fail to fulfill the booking.com terms. There's no provision of drinking water in the rooms despite repeated requests. No hot water for bath. Communication is challenging as the staff only speaks Malayalam, neglecting other languages. During a three-hour power outage at night, there are no backup arrangements until guests demand for their rights. Moreover, they inconvenience elderly guests and families with young children by asking them to relocate to different rooms in the middle of the night, requiring them to move their luggage as well.

Food is not prepared there. They will get it from nearby restaurant.
