"A perfectly fine place to stay, but with dirty facilities and bad location"

7.0

We stayed in tents and the bedding was surprisingly comfy! They did meals at any time for a reasonable price and the breakfast (which was free) was great to wake up too! The scenery of mountains surrounding the campsite was also picturesque. The staff were very friendly and helped save our tent from being crushed by bamboo sticks.

The pool (which was free for those staying there, don’t be fooled by the sign saying you need to pay) was rather disgusting. It was filled with dead bugs and algae, but as an option to cool off it was fine, especially as our tent was an oven in the daytime (though that can’t be helped). The other main problem was the location, it’s a 20+ minute walk to town with no option for taxis or tuk tuks. Walking back late at night, the road is completely dark and not too safe! You can rent bikes in town but we weren’t told this during our stay there.

"Good for what you pay"

7.0

Good for what you pay. Views are amazing. Breakfast was amazing! Something different every day. Staff were all really friendly and accommodating. Only 15/20 min walk into the centre.

Pool wasn’t in use which was a shame. Wasn’t very clear about the toilet/shower being a walk from the huts and shared between the whole campsite. Few times where there was a queue for the toilet or shower

I recently stayed at Nong Khiaw Campsite, and there were some notable positives. The owners were incredibly hospitable and included a delicious breakfast. The campsite offers stunning views, as evident in my pictures, and the wooden huts provide ample space. The extensive menu offered diverse food options.

However, there were drawbacks. Booking discrepancies were apparent, as what's listed as a bungalow on booking.com platforms really was a wooden hut which again was fine but not what is advertised. The campsite's toilets weren't in the best condition, which is somewhat expected in a campsite setting. Additionally, the location is a 15-30 minute walk from the town center, with challenging roads and limited tuk tuk accessibility, which is not nice to walk at night. In our specific room the lock was extremely hard to use and we were also the only wooden hut without a small wooden balcony around ours which people used to leave shoes and dry their clothes on, however this was a minor issue.
