Guacimo Lodge

Make sure to ask for tour guide Orlando to do with you all activities at the lodge! He is a local guide with great experience. The property of the host is an absolute unique area in the widlife refuge of Indio Maiz; the lodge is very beautiful and in good shape. We also received a free upgrade to a bigger cabin. The personell is very friendly and helpful.

Be aware that the lodge comes with its price. Against the background of the unique location, is is however reasonable as all food, water etc. has to make a several hour lasting trip by boat.

The open bungalows (pretty well sealed against Moskitos) is quite comfortable and especially if you are in one at the edge of the property, you really are sleeping in the jungle. There will be no reception and no WiFi. The location is great, especially if you want to go birdwatching early in the morning. The manager and the staff are super nice and helpful. It’s best to bring sufficient cash, as credit cards might not work that day. The pool is in good shape. With a view on the river.

We just found it to be a bit too expensive for what it offers.

Absolutely amazing location with beautiful surroundings. They offer many tours so there is a lot to do. Besides, it’s also the perfect place to just relax in nature.

We had an excellent stay in Guacimo. The place itself is beautiful and the facilities were excellent, however it was the staff and excursions that made the trip so special. Manuel had been so helpful corresponding with us before the stay about the logistics of arriving at Guacimo. Our boat from San Carlos was full by the time we arrived and so Guacimo helped by sending their boat to collect us, without which we'd have been stuck for the night in San Carlos. They helped us arrange to see everything that we wanted to whilst there and gave us some great advice on where to go in Nicaragua after our stay at Guacimo. Gustavo was a brilliant guide and taught us so much about the local history & wildlife. Franklin was there to help with any and all queries we had and was great with helping us arrange our onward journey and Margarita cooked us the most wonderful food!

Guacimo is a place we will not forget! My husband and I spent 4 nights here and absolutely loved it. The staff arranged everything for us beforehand in terms of transportation (driver from Managua for a reasonable price, followed by a 2-hour boat ride) and it was well worth the journey. The staff are helpful and kind. Franklin was especially attentive and went above and beyond to make sure our trip was special. We did four of the available tours, which allowed us to see some local wildlife as well as spend time in a nearby town, El Castillo. Gustavo did our wildlife tours and we were so impressed with his knowledge of local flora and fauna. Highly recommend coming here!!

Excellent location and great host.

The location is a dream in the middle of the jungle with amazing river views. Staff is super friendly and accommodating. The tours are definitely a once in a lifetime experience. This is our second visit we love the place so much.

Guests should be aware the jungle is all around and facilities show some wear and tear due to the harsh landscape. Restaurant menu can be limited due to remote location.

Absolutely stunning lodge. Waking up in the jungle was truly special. Food was tasty and activities were fun. The pool has a stunning view too. Bela the manager was incredibly attentive and helpful.
