The location was amazing with a vista view of Oaxaca, yet within walking distance of the zocalo.

My room hovered just over a dirt lot below where stray dogs congregated. They barked and howled from 7pm to 1am on two of the nights I stayed. Not the fault of the property but the racket made it hard to sleep. Some issues with initial contact with the property, including finding the place and letting them know my bus was very late. That could’ve been a problem with the booking.com app though. My shower didn’t work but Carlos got it fixed quickly as soon as he knew about it. The power went out two nights in a row.

The small apartment was ideal, (except for a few things I will detail below). It was very comfortable, and I loved the view outside my window. Loved having a small kitchen and fridge. Loved having a small balcony. Carlos, the concierge, was extraordinary. Very responsive and accommodating. He met me late at night when I first arrived, and arranged for a cab very early in the morning when I left. He responded to every text I sent him and was very helpful throughout my stay. Although the bathroom was separate from the apartment, it was accessible and private.

It was pretty clean, but could have been a little cleaner. I did not really like the fact that the bathroom was separate from the apartment, but I had it to myself. Also, there was a misunderstanding at the beginning, regarding whether I had really rented an "apartment' or just a room. However, they were very gracious and allowed me to move into a real studio apartment the next morning. One other thing that was problematic was the road construction on the street that made it impassable at times and I could not get the van from the airport to drop me off at the address. Fortunately, Carlos met me at the intersection and helped me get to the place.

One of the care takers, Carlos met us one morning with traditional chocolate drink con Agua and traditional Oaxacan bread. We shared a wonderful morning breakfast learning more about Oaxaca and local life. Best tacos at Los Tacos de Esme and coffee at Café Talante just down the street.

The wifi wasn't connecting the first day, but was quickly resolved after we mention it. Safe quiet area, even with the dogs and roosters, but you'll find those everywhere you go in Mexico.

Location: The property is located in a fantastic spot on the hills overlooking downtown Oaxaca (but still only a 10 minute walk to Santo Domingo). There was a terrace a few steps away, but even the bedroom and kitchen had remarkable overlook views. Safety: As a solo woman traveler, I also appreciated that I was next door to a 24-hour mobile police station (though of course, like almost everywhere in the city, you’ll need to speak some Spanish). Accommodating: The owner (manager?) Carlos was very accommodating and always gave me recommendations over WhatsApp for tours, taxis, drinking water, and even what to do with the trash cans. I appreciated his attention.

Bathroom: it was clean and it was private to my room but I had to leave my bedroom, enter a shared corridor, and then enter the bathroom. So I didn’t feel comfortable when I needed to shower, for example. There’s nothing they can do about that, but that’s why this wasn’t a 10-point rating.

Quaint quarto with excellent view in a less touristy area of Oaxaca - though very near the centre. Carlos was an outstanding host, responsive with our questions and requests, and even offered us complimentary hot chocolate and local breads one morning.

The attention from the staff was excellent, they went above and beyond to answer my questions and ensured I had a safe and comfortable stay. The location was great too, within walking distance of the centre in a quiet and safe spot.
