Kinabalu Valley Guesthouse

The Host was extremly nice, helpful and gave us valueable tips for our travels. The Rooms are ok, but quite basic. We can't say anything negative for this price. Thanks Ben for all your help!

Host is friendly and willing to help always. He offered us to change rooms to have a better view and again when we found a cockroach which he provided spray for. He was also very honest about the limitations of the homestay when you arrive and gives you the option to leave before you pay. Also, they only occupy every other room to negate the limitations of the poor soundproofing so we didn’t hear anybody else. The kitchen is spacious and can cook good food with veg from local market.

It’s a bit out of town (45 minute walk) but we rented a bike to get around and when we didn’t have that a hitchhike was always possible. Shower takes the edge off the cold water but never really gets warm. Rooms are old and when we used the fan the dust affected our sinuses. There is bottled water available to buy at 2RM for 1.5L but these are in a locked cabinet and the host needs to be there to unlock it which can take some time. Would be nicer if he put more trust in his guests that they will not steal from him.

Ben, the staff is soo nice. He really took care of my special needs and answered many questions for me online. it is a very nice simple but clean and quiet guesthouse. has a share kitchen. bring ur own coffee snd supplies, water. it has a nice quiet road to walk to see nature and a beautiful morning view of the upper part of mt. kinabalu. a nice sunset over the valley. it's really good value for the price. easy to hitchhike into town from locals in the village near the guesthouse. not easy to hitchhike back.

it's a bit far from kundasang town at about 2.3 kilos so it was too far for me to walk, but Ben has local driver contacts who drop u for a reasonable rate. not enough coffee cups and only cheap plastic not really meant for hot liquids. no water refill, so waste alot of plastic.

Best value for money in the region. Outside the bedroom everything is shared with a lot of people, if you don’t like that it might not be your type of night. Very friendly staff with good recommendations. Kitchen is well equipped.

The facilities are quite old and used intensively, and might need renovation or renewal.

Toilet need to improve and do some renovation

Safety and clean . The owner soo friendly . Next year will be my next staycation 🩷 we love dog there sooo cute like pig 🤣 if can bring that dog sleep of course i will take that dog to my room 😂

The drain in front of the house needs to be repaired because there are small pieces of metal that could potentially cause a flat tire.
