Island Dreams Resort

This is a family-run business, whose friendliness, kindness and willingness to assist cannot be faulted. The rooms are kept very clean, have A/C, TV, Wi-Fi and a good-sized, shaded balcony. Your hosts can provide meals on request and the sea beach is ten minutes walk away. Walk fifteen minutes south to find the nearest restaurants and a little further, to the shore-line opposite Sultan Battery, for a regular ferry boat across to the Mainland.

Whilst the location is peacefully away from the noise of Mangaluru and on the shore of a natural back-water channel, between the mainland and the Arabian sea, it lacks charm. At present, the only road access is to the north of the island. However, a new road bridge was well under construction at the time of my visit (late February 2026), between the island and mainland just to the south of Sultan Battery. Construction of that bridge has entailed damming of the backwater channel and this has caused a degree of stagnation of the waters around Island Dreams Resort.

Excellent location, very dedicated staff - arranged for a crib for our little one and were flexible with our room requirements.

The facility next door had someone playing obnoxiously loud music and we had to personally contact the police in many different ways before we could get it shut down, disrupting a peaceful time at the resort and our kids sleep.

It's a relatively new property and the staff their is amazing. Hemanth is always smiling and always ready to help with anything and everything. Mangaloreans, in general, seem to be very courteous, smiling, humble and polite :)

The location can be a bit of challenge if you aren't traveling from your own vehicle as you'd have to walk mostly to the nearest ferry stand where you can find auto rickshaw.

The property location is awesome, on an island. Perfect backwaters place to relax. Thanks Hemanth and Sundar for making the stay comfortable.

This is a completely new property which was Inaugurated on 07Dec'24. The property has a small play area for kid and is river facing and Thanirbavi beach is at a walkable distance from here. The staff is very good. The property owner provides you with various options if you want to roam in the city. We have loved it, where we took ferry which is again 10mins walk from the property and took autos to roam around the city, being from Bengaluru I loved it when autowaala said on meter 😁

As it's new property the kitchen is under construction, so as of now you've to order food on Swiggy/zomato. If you are someone who doesnt like walking you've to get your vehicle as the property is on the other side of river and most the ola/uber/auto guys will ask you to cross the river and come. But the owner knows a cab guy, so if you talk to him he'll help you.
