Palmwag Lodge

Nice houses with a very nice view. Especially to watch the sunset. Good beds, nice shower and great smelling shampoo, shower gel and many more in the room.

This lodge is way to expensive for what you get for it. Room price twice as much as somewhere else, food also twice as much and game drives also. Dinner was till 21:00, but they started to take everything away at 20:45, while we just had our main course. They put 15% tipp on every bill. Game drive was later described as scenery drive, I understand why, because you won’t see many animals. The abundant wildlife which you can see on other places can’t be seen here. Also other groups did hardly see any. It wasn’t scenery at all. A 4,5 hours bumpy ride over rocks with hardly no animal to see. I understand that you can’t predict the presence of wildlife, but nowhere we have experienced something like this. It also felt like a wast of time, as we entered the area a rhino ranger got a lift from our tourguide, because he had to work and search for the rhino. After 3,5 hours searching (and seeing no animal at all since the ranger got in the car) the tourguide said that they normaly do the rhino tracking in another area, where the soil is more moist, because the chances are better there. If they knew this, why did they search there for so many hours? We would have liked to see a rhino, but seeing other animals was okay for us as well. This made me very disappointed about the tour. The guide was friendly, but I don’t think the way he worked it out was okay. We were there just providing the ranger a ride, which has cost us 75€ a person. In the room, the safe didn’t work and there is no fridge. As you pay so much for this lodge everything should have been better than this. I payed for a stay of 19 hours including the food and the drive €450 for two persons. I don’t mind if everything is perfect, but it was far from that. Keep your money in your pocket and go somewhere else.

This is a true Oasis in the truly breath taking scenery. An absolute gem of a place in every way..... Fantastic!!!
