"Excellent choice for a budget conscious stay near Bergen"

10.0

Excellent location - a short walk away from Nesttun Terminal tram stop and bus station. Super convenient to get to from the airport and the train station by tram. The public transport is very reasonably priced. We got a weekly ticket for just over £18 per adult. We would highly recommend using public transport, as the taxis can be very expensive. Also very convenient for food and shopping. The apartment is next to the Foodie Land restaurant, which is very reasonably priced, and offers food such as pizza, pasta and burgers. The staff were super friendly and spoke great English. There are also a couple of petrol stations close by, where you can buy coffee and snacks, e.g. in the early morning before Foodie Land opens. It's also only a short walk from the local shops. The room itself was great. The bed was really comfortable. The lights have three different brightness settings - you can switch between them by turning them off and on again. The room temperature was comfortable, and there was a thermostat to adjust it if needed. Having a washing machine in the bathroom was super useful too. We stayed in Bergen for a week and travelled fairly light, so it was great to be able to wash our clothes. The floor in the bathroom had underfloor heating, which was useful for drying clothes on - there was also a clothes airer. We found it really convenient to have recycling bins close by outside too - this meant we could recycle things like bottles, cans, and pizza boxes, instead of filling up the bin inside our room. Nesttun is also a great location if you would like to visit the Grieg museum and concert hall at Troldhaugen. This is a 30 minute walk away, but can be quite steep in parts. I'd highly recommend going to one of the daily Grieg piano recitals (every day except Mondays during the summer months). Troldhaugen is beautiful, and the view from the concert hall is stunning. Check-in and out was straightforward.

We had a really great stay, so this is more for suggesting improvements to make things even better for people staying next time. If it were me, I would have moved the bed to the opposite wall from where it is currently, so that there would be more space either side to get in and out of bed. This would make it more accessible for older people, for example. The table and chairs could then be moved to where the bed is now. The only other issues were minor snags, such as the shower head holder being missing, and issues with getting the electric blinds to work. We found the battery chargers for these and managed to charge the batteries, which fixed the blind closest to the bed; however we were having issues with getting the leftmost blind to work. The CR2032 batteries in the blind remote controls may also need replacing, as we had issues with getting the remote controls to work. Hopefully both of these issues should be easy enough to fix though. If it is possible to add a small fridge, and possibly a microwave oven, then this would make the stay even better.
