Ngaio Cottage

We booked this accomodation last minute trip and we were so lucky we ended up here. At first we had no idea where Pepin island was or even heard of it. But after a few google searches and reviews, we knew this was meant to be. On the drive here you know you're heading to a remote location. After a 25 minute drive out of town you arrive at the beautiful cable bay, and a short drive across the bay you arrive at Pepin island. The cottage is very close to the start of the island which is convenient. Alot of the other stays are located on the opposite side of the island which would be alot les convenient. The cottage itself is well thought out, the kitchen is well equipped, bathroom and bath tubs are amazing. , everything has a quality feel inside and out , the bed was amazing, pillows and blanket were quality. It makes such a difference when the bed is comfortable. you can see alot of time and thought has been put into this accomodation to make it a wonderful experience for their guests. The views from the cottage were sublime, sunsets were amazing and the sound of the waves and ocean everyday made it very relaxing. We decided on our 2nd day to hike up to the top of Pepin island, we took the shortest route, by going clockwise heading to wards rocky point hut. They have local map in the hut where you sigh in. Just make sure to follow the yellow line on the map. Pretty straight forward hike but well worth the 360 views at the top,.make sure to bring a wind breaker as.it can get quite windy up the top. This was a very special stay for us and we would love to come back and enjoy it again.

I would say the only thing that did become noticeable were the curious neighbour's. The cottage shares the same driveway as the neighbour's who are further along and higher up on the hill which gives them a clear view of the balcony and also into the rooms of the cottage if curtains are not drawn. The neighbour's have an open living room with big windows, which makes it is easy to spot them standing there peering into the cottage. Does make it abit uncomfortable to use the outside bath,.especially if you choose to bathe naked. Anyways that's my only negative point.. Other than that it's still an amazing stay.
