ViengTara VangVieng Resort

This hotel exceeded all my expectations! From the moment I arrived, the service was impeccable—staff were attentive, friendly, and went above and beyond to ensure my stay was perfect. The breakfast was truly exceptional and the view amazing!

A soap dispenser holder should be placed in the shower.

The most fantastic setting right on the paddy fields. Definitely pay a little more for the rooms at the front of the property as the balconies have the most magical view. You can enjoy a leisurely breakfast here. Drink prices are on the high side (the most expensive beerlao we had on the entire trip).

Very unique, extremely relaxing in the rice field .

Nothing, everything was great , frogs get a bit noisy at night but all part of the experience.

Warning!! Unless you choose the “villa”’or “bungalow” you are not in the room shown in the pictures but rather a room that is pretty dark and looks over the garden on one side and the car park and road on the other! The villas are very expensive but as it was our first place in Laos, we upgraded and they are absolutely beautiful and very very comfortable. We loved our stay here, but our kids were in the “superior double” and their room was very dark and dingy which was fine by them as we were out all day and they hung out in our balcony with the stupendous views over the paddy fields. The staff are so friendly, and the restaurant has the best views of any restaurant we saw in Vang Vieng. Shame the food isn’t very good as with the right chef, it would be full every lunch and dinner! Thank you for our stay, we loved it!

One of the most beautiful views we ever had: green rice fields, mountains and hot air balloons overhead. Quiet at night yet close to the city center, shops and restaurants. Nice balcony with sitting bags. Good airco that makes little noise because compressor is on the rear side of building.

Shower was not very clean. Restaurant is expensive and not very busy. Breakfast looks nice but some items are not very good and were waisted on us. Breakfast included only one coffee, but we picked up another one at the restaurant at no charge. Would have preferred a buffet. A bit noisy in the early morning with engine sound, probably paramotors. Cabins are close together, so not too much privacy when sitting outside.

We stayed in one of the sweet villas overlooking the rice fields and the karsts in the distance. We enjoyed the incredibly peaceful retreat ViengTara offered from the town. We had breakfast on our porch each morning and enjoyed the view, the birds and the warm breeze. The evenings are also beautiful with the lighting along the pathways and the views from the main patio and the villas. ViengTara was an exceptional find!

Wow! So pretty and lovely service. Large parking lot. Check in was delightful with cold drink and towel. You order your breakfast with a delivery time slot at check in. Escorted to villa - the setting in the rice field in the valley with the mountains is spectacular. The villas are lovely, eight in a row on boardwalks over the paddies. Each has a deck with rough seating on two sides and with only two bean bag type kind of dirty cushions, one square and one trapezoid shaped. The interior is rustic but comfortable, same for bathroom. There is kettle, coffee, tea, cookies, stocked mini-fridge, robes and slippers. The bathroom has lots of toiletries, nice towels and a decent hair dryer. The room has good lighting but the bathroom is very dark. It’s all about the view and the situation here. We got some cold drinks and after a few minutes managed to each find comfortable positions on the deck for a lovely afternoon watching the view. Pretty quiet with a few para-motors flying overhead around sunset but no big deal. One hot air balloon landed just beyond the rice field which was fun to watch. Had a little late lunch at the restaurant; good but very expensive. Easy to walk to restaurants on this side of the river or can walk across the motorbike bridge into town in 15 minutes. So that’s what we did for dinner. Breakfast delivered to your deck in the morning, very pleasant and civilized.

No where to put luggage other than floor. No indoor seating. Very hard to regulate hot vs cold water in shower. Sadly, like most of Laos, the evening was long and loud with horrid music from next door…. Karaoke, the bane of Asia. I know the music wasn't coming from this resort but when you make a splurge stay in a villa over a rice paddy the expectations are for a quiet relaxing evening. This was anything but. The onsite restaurant is very expensive. At checkout they make you wait for the room to be checked to make sure you didn’t steal anything.

The villas had a beautiful outlook, the room was very clean and comfortable. Breakfast on the verandah was amazing.

Initially booked a superior room as it was more affordable. This room was close to the Riad and quite noisy, so we took up the option to pay for an upgrade to a villa, which was definitely worth it.
