Villa Residence Franziskus

We were blown away with our stay at Villa Residence Franziskus. Philip made us welcome and the facilities are exceptional. This was our first visit to Dorf Tirol and the accommodation is perfect as a base to explore the beauty of the area. Although we didn't make use of the indoor pool and spa facilities, these were clean and calming. The outdoor pool area is excellent and provided welcomed relief from the heat in the area during late July. The area predominantly speaks German, and we were in the absolute minority of English speakers within the area. Nevertheless, Philip was able to communicate with us with good English to ensure we knew key information about the area. A great thing provided at Franziskus is the travel card which includes bus travel and use of the chair lift to and from Merano for free. We will definitely return; next time with a little more German!

The appartment was spotless and cool during the summer heat. The free access to the chairlift to Merano. We quite enjoyed the nearby Lido (community pool area) with its bar and restaurant.

A shame that a new hotel has blocked the views to the valley from the garden and pool area. A small suggestion would be to have hand soap available in the bathroom as well as filled salt and pepper shakers in the kitchen.

The apartment was very tidy and the kitchen well equipped. Because the complex is not located in the center of the village, most shops are only five to ten minutes walking away, with the exception of a convenient supermarket located on the other side of town, but you'd then probably use a car for transporting your groceries anyway. The apartment complex is closer (than the rest of town) to the chair lift going straight into the Merano city centre and this is free of charge for Franziskus guests. The pool and lawn were very well kept and appreciated by guests too, never crowded.

At times there is some noticeable noise from traffic on the road nearby when sitting on the terrace or balcony. This was, however, not very disturbing as it was limited to "rush hour" in the mornings and afternoons, and did not last long anyway. During the night the environment was quiet and peaceful.
