Mount Niconos

We had a terrible experience at Mount Niconos. When we arrived, the geyser was switched off, and we had no way to switch it on. The host was not on-site, and we waited a while for them to arrive and switch on the geyser. The morning we left, there was again no hot water. The hosts had not been there since the day before, and it seemed like they had switched off the geyser before they left. There was no one to assist with check-out. We had no idea what to do with the keys or how to exit the property since there was a gate for which we needed the remote. We contacted the host and only got their voicemail. When we finally decided to leave the keys close to the gate on the inside of the property, the hosts' dog ran out the gate and into the field joining the property. The dogs had been left alone since the previous morning, and again, the host could not be reached. We waited to see if the dogs would return and also went looking for them in the field. Unfortunately, to no avail. We waited for an hour and a half while we still had a three-hour drive home. We tried to contact the host several times before we absolutely had to leave. The decision to leave was horrible, as we had no way to inform the host. No alternative number was provided for emergencies such as this. It has now been more than 12 hours, and the host has still not contacted us. I am not even sure if they know we have checked out.

The place is at a secluded location which is what we anticipated. The place was quiet and chilled There was trampoline as part of kids out door play. There was charcoal offered. The security is very good. The owner’s prompt response to queries.

I am not sure maybe I missed it somehow. But I feel like it would be fair for the travellers to be made aware if there are dogs in the yard. We were terrified when we got there because of the phobia we have around dogs. My husband and I made it work but my 4 year old didn’t enjoy his stay due to we had to carry him all the time because he is still scared of dogs even after we spent a week there.

The environment was refreshing, like nature is suppose to be. We had a braai in the last night and it was fun. The owners were welcoming, friendly and humble. The rooms turned out as described. We went to Haarties cable way, even though I'm scared of heights, I had fun. We were supposed to go hiking me and my partner, but ended up not going because of heights.

Some of the rooms had dust, it was like no one was expecting us. Suggestion: When the cleaning lady is done cleaning the rooms, one of the owner's should go in for a spot check. Making sure that all the rooms are super clean. Overall stay was fantabulous💃💃💃💃💃💃💃💃🙌👏👏👏🙌🌹🌹🌹

View was lovely. Main bedroom was very comfortable. Accommodation was affordable. Hosts were helpful and friendly. Beautiful view. Nice walking paths

Road to get up to the place was very poor and we got stuck and had to be dug out - but they are fixing it. Bunk beds are not comfortable and you're not really able to sleep on them. Furniture should be around the front so that we can appreciate the view.
