Årc yakushima

Location was good for access to waterfall and remote beaches. A sense of community with the other guests. Nice amenities and brand new fixtures and furnitures, very stylish! Near by restaurant At Pesca（アット ペスカ）was very welcoming and saved our empty stomachs!

Difficulty to reach shops and activities without a car and all amenities cost extra (washing machines, towels, snacks and drinks - even a spoon of rice). Property was smaller than expected, as the place was fully booked the property was a little bit cramped (more of a hostel vibe) Host seemed slightly bothered by his guests and not very communicative. We didn't want to bother him more and managed to find informations and activities by ourself.

Great for solo traveller, it was nice meeting others in the common area. The host, Suguru was extremely helpful and kind. Very clean and good quality from the bed to the utensils in the kitchen, it was immaculate!

Absolutely Great Architecture. Simple,functional and done in japanisch style and with precision.

It’s a bit far away from everything so you need a car and you’ve to be willing to be driving a lot. Everything is functional and web/QR code based. This makes it it all quite impersonal.

The fantastic host Suguru! Very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable and he speaks excellent English which made communication very easy. I really enjoyed having a sea view from my room, the property itself is beautifully designed - very stylish and high quality. The kitchen/lounge area is very well equipped and maintained with fancy crockery and cooking utensils (I admit I was too afraid to use them as not a confident chef and didn’t want to risk damaging anything by accident, but if you are used to cooking you will be fine) I adored the bathrooms and shower rooms, the pressure for the shower was heavenly! Shampoo/conditioner/soap/towel/slippers provided for free. I also used the washing machine which was very easy to do. The building can endure harsh stormy weather, could barely feel there was a storm when you’re safely inside. A very serene and tranquil setting.

The location is a wee bit out of the way if you cannot drive and relying on public transport and taxi (like me) to get to tourist hiking trails/ spots for onsen / waterfalls / beach / going to the supermarket etc. Not impossible but more difficult and you need to plan ahead as shops shut early evening. If booking this property I would strongly recommend hiring a car and then everything is very easy.

just splendid design choices were made here. the whole atmosphere of the arc is very unique. perfect for calming down, and feeling one with the beautiful surroundings.
