Gurkent Hotel

Great location, friendly staff who gave good recommendations and directions for when we were arriving late and needed to park. Also very responsive throughout. They also let us keep our car with them for a few hours while we walked around after checking out.

The pillows are a bit firm for my liking but this is very subjective. The bathroom could do with a bit of restoration but otherwise is pretty decent.

It is cheap and is in a good location, 7 minute walk from Kizilay centre so good if you want to be near the shops. We got a big room with a large sofa, lots of space and a large bathroom.

I emailed them before I flew to Turkey to ask about an iron, and I received no reply. When I got there they told me they do not provide an iron which was frustrating. The staff are not friendly . The fridge is very old. Called reception twice to ask them to come up and check it, they did not come. This was the first night so we knew from there what sort of customer service we were getting. The AC is not strong and was spitting out ice in the room (pictures attached). There is clearly something wrong with the AC. They cleaned the room each day but never gave us any new coffee cups or sugar. I realised on the third night they actually were not changing the bed sheets. The breakfast is a buffet, it is not a large variety and because it starts at 7am it is usually cold by 8/9. Very basic compared to other hotels in Ankara. Overall an old hotel, needs a refurbishment.
