I recently had a disappointing experience with Uthamar Illam in Tiruchirapalli, and I feel compelled to share my thoughts to warn other potential guests. Upon booking through booking.com, I had high hopes for a comfortable stay. However, my hopes were quickly dashed upon arrival. Firstly, the location is far from ideal, situated amidst a noisy market and quite a distance from the city center. After an exhausting 8-hour ride, arriving at such a remote and chaotic location was far from pleasant. To add insult to injury, upon arrival, I discovered that Uthamar Illam was not a conventional lodge. Instead, I was greeted by an individual on the top floor who beckoned me to come up. Given my fatigue and the weight of my luggage, I requested a ground floor accommodation, only to be met with rudeness and indifference from the caretaker. The condition of the place was appalling, resembling more of a cow shed than a guest accommodation. The overall atmosphere was unwelcoming, and I immediately knew I couldn't bear to stay there. The caretaker behavior only confirmed my decision to seek alternative accommodation. What truly shocked me was the audacity of the guy to accuse me of being intoxicated and subsequently refuse me a room. This accusation was not only baseless but also reflective of the unprofessionalism and incompetence of the establishment. In conclusion, I strongly advise anyone considering booking Uthamar Illam to steer clear. The experience I endured was nothing short of a nightmare, and it's evident that this accommodation falls far below acceptable standards. I urge booking.com to reassess their partnership with such establishments to ensure the satisfaction and safety of their customers. Save yourself the trouble, money, and time by avoiding Uthamar Illam altogether.

Worst cleaning, No service at all, Poor communication

Ashok is a super friendly person; he made sure that I had everything I need, gave me valuable tips for my journey and even took me out at night to have some drinks (after which we had dinner on the floor of his living room 😀)! I definitely recommend staying here!

The only caveat I would ad is that there is a temple nearby that blades out loud music at 5am... so make sure to bring along a pair of good earplugs. 😌

The property owner took advance money much more than promised. The room was extremely bad with no staff, no food & the toilet was Indian style with no shower or hot water. The bed was dirty & the balcony mentioned was shared with the oroperty owner. Very bad place to stay. He allowed pets but no person to clean the poop and asked me to clean it. Very bad behavior of the property owner. Does Booking.com check on the property before registration them under Booking.com. there was a cc TV camera inside the room. But you will not accept my review and reject it.

It's very clean and well maintained. The owner is very polite and helpful. It's situated near the bus stop for easy travel access. The surrounding area is peaceful and safe. Our experience is good overall.
