Het Zomerhuis

Warning: Staying at Het Zomerhuis may make you never want to return home! After our first night, we woke to such calm and quiet that we felt worlds away from everyday life. Everything in the house is new, modern, and spotlessly clean --- no dust anywhere! The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, making even a rainy day a pleasure. We spent one afternoon curled up on the comfortable couch with a book and Netflix, feeling right at home. The hosts have truly thought of everything: great chairs and tables, a fantastic mattress (I slept better than I do at home!), and a genius automated ventilation and climate system that keeps the air fresh-perfect for anyone with allergies or pollen sensitivity. Nature surrounds you here: horses at the end of the drive, sheep next door, and flowers and beautiful trees all around. A short stroll brings you to a friendly local restaurant, but we also enjoyed picking up meals from the store to heat up in the efficient kitchenette and enjoy at home for convenience. Each morning, we took a lovely walk to a nearby pond filled with birds and flowers. The rolling dunes and wide beach are just a few kilometers further, and bike trails crisscross the entire area. One day, we cycled through fields and forests to the Alkmaar museum and the historic Broeker Veiling. Another day, we walked to the archaeological museum Huis van Hilde for a taste of local history. There’s so much to see and do, but honestly, the best part was simply relaxing in such a comfortable, beautiful setting. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a peaceful, refreshing getaway!

Honestly, there was very little to dislike during our stay. If I had to mention one minor thing, it might be that the peacefulness and comfort of Het Zomerhuis made it a bit hard to leave and explore sometimes - it’s just so relaxing! Otherwise, everything was excellent.
