Nagashima Traditional House in Tonome

The location for us was great - close to nagashima spa land and nabana no sato. Gorgeous traditional house. Heating and cooling throughout. Plenty of space. Very clean.

Beds were a little uncomfortable but nothing that an extra futon didn't fix - there was plenty of clean linen and extra futons available.

We had no issues locating the house. The house is spacious and well-lit like in the photos. The neighbors are friendly and wave when we greet them in the morning. There's also a small shrine that is a minute away from the house. The grocery stores/post office/7-11/pizza/soba restaurant are a 15-minute walk from the house. It's a 30-minute walk to the JR train stop and then it's a 30-minute ride to Nagoya. We didn't have issues with the walk and it didn't feel long to us. The host is responsive when we had questions related to the dryer and we were able to use Google Translate for any instructions in Japanese.

Loved the tatami rooms and the building itself. Loved the location in terms of the rural experience. Loved the facilities and felt very relaxed to call it home for the 4 days. Would recommend to groups looking for the 'real Japan' experience.

Potential stayers need to be warned that taxis are rare. The walk to the nearest station is 20 minutes. If you are fit and have plenty of time it's not an issue but for my boyfriend the walk to the station was not easy. It is a wonderful place to stay. There are taxis, sometimes from Yatomi station but getting a taxi to the house was very difficult.

Consider adding the ¥3,000 yen extra charge to the listing rather than just saying that “there may be an extra charge for pets”
