This was the one of the worst overnight stays away from my own home and bed I've ever had in my life. The other was the camping trip I took with my school (I was a lead teacher) in which the rotted cactus I pitched my tent on popped my pad and needled my bag and me throughout the rain-soaked night.

I didn't like fully paying for the room upfront and being greeted by a disgruntled hostess in a bathrobe who could not speak clear English demanding a $30.00 cash only deposit after checking me in but before releasing the key card and television remote to me (I had to drive to a gas station to get cash from an ATM at the cost of $3.50 for the transaction). I also didn't like seeing a live cockroach in standing water in the bathroom; the midnight fiesta taking place on the property (complete with alcohol, music, singing, dancing, popping balloons, clanking and breaking beer bottles, children, and half naked women); the smell of smoke and ganja; the thin comforter; the rude host when I returned with the $30.00 cash deposit; and the rude host who literally threw a rolled up $20 and two $5 bills into the window slot without even a thank you as I relinquished the key card and remote at checkout.
