We arrived late on the train from Khiva and the host was able to let us in at 1am, which was helpful.

I was woken up at 8am by the host banging our door down and got up to find I was standing in an inch of water across our whole room which, as they pointed out to us, was leaking down into the courtyard below. There was a fault with the toilet cistern which meant that it was overflowing out of the cistern and had completely flooded the whole room. Everything that was on the floor, including our bags (because there was no other space in the room to store them) was wet. I was exhausted from having gone to bed late but after being woken up the host just disappeared - I expected her to come back with a mop but after standing around in water for a while I had to go and find her to ask for a mop. She came back to mop up most of the water in the bedroom, but left the bathroom, then pointed to the toilet and said that we must have left the tap on. Obviously we hadn't, because I'm not a bloody idiot, and I showed her the broken cistern. She then disappeared and didn't offer any other help or apology, but later on commented again that we must have left the tap on, which was absolutely infuriating and represents a complete lack of accountability. I had to ask to use another bathroom in the property, wasn't able to have a shower, and left with a bag full of wet clothes. There was no refund offered and a lame attempt at an apology when we left. Aside from that tragi-comedy I found it absolutely bizarre that the room has a window from the courtyard that doesn't have a curtain, so I had to hide around the corner to get dressed without anyone being able to see from the outside and anyone would be able to see in. The rooms are very small and don't have any space. I also tried to contact the property afterwards to get a copy of the registration slip to show at the border when we leave Uzbekistan and didn't get any response.

The breakfast was very generous but there were flies in the fried eggs 😆

Cleanliness

The heart of this place is definitely the staff. Sharifa made us feel really welcomed and always cared for us. She made sure we had a good start in the day with breakfast, helped us with laundry and cared for me when I got sick. You will experience real uzbek hospitality when you come here. Torge was also a great host and he was always smiling and friendly, which made us happy. The rooms are nice, ac works perfectly and the terrace is stunning. Perfect location as you can walk everywhere. Would definitely recommend.

Lovely hotel with nice rooms very close to the old town. And very friendly staff :)

-The drain in the shower was incredibly smelly - apparently a problem at many places around here. -Polyester bed sheets, they are just very uncomfortable on the skin, why not cotton?
