Burnside Homestead

This is a property with a history of over a hundred years. In a forest, it's a bit like Little Red Riding Hood's home in a fairy tale. All the furnishings preserve a sense of history, providing a unique experience compared to modern homestays.

Beautiful heritage property with gorgeous gardens, comfy beds and a wonderful bathroom.

Wonderful historic Villa. Located outside of Oamaru in the countryside.

The property was absolutely amazing .i have never been in such a building .As I was the only guest I was able to look at all the rooms which was fascinating .Breakfast was very nice in the very imposing dining room . The on suite was quirky with feels of Narnia .

I was only able to stay one night .

A very individual villa with many interesting features. The octagonal hall with the high windows was as amazing as described. Facilites all great and really appreciated being allowed to explore the whole house (we were the only guests). A wonderful place to spend my 80th birthday and afternoon tea provided by Kathy for us and our visiting daughter was a highlight.

A very unique experience to stay in a homestead so rich in history which Cathy and Mark shared enthusiastically. Their commitment to restoration and maintenance both inside and out deserves high commendation and the dining room in particular is spectacular. Cosy and comfortable bed and delicious breakfast. Later in the day I met the former owner who added to the story, demonstrating what a great commitment there is to heritage preservation in the area. Property was a bit challenging to find, roads steep and winding in parts but added to the adventure and tea at nearby pub also well worth it.

It is a house meant for entertaining big parties so a bit sad that I was the only guest that night.
