Jemko and Hanoon are extremely welcoming, considerate and always ready to help. We were supplied with plenty of drinking water, snorkeling gear, sunbeds on the beach, AC, kettle.

I would recommend to allocate an isolated place for cloth drying.

"Fantastic guesthouse on a tropical island"

10.0

I was a reluctant to pick somewhere with no reviews on here. However, am I glad that I did. Hudhuveli is a small guesthouse on the island of Kamadhoo, which is located in the Baa Atoll. The guesthouse is clean and modern. Kamadhoo is a 'local' island, there are Maldivians living on the island. The manager, Jemko, was fantastic. Helpful and friendly, we truly felt welcome from Jemko and his family. As with everywhere , you'll have to get a transfer from Male. On the way there, we went with a domestic flight to a nearby island and then a short speedboat ride. On the return we did a longer speedboat ride to the main island, and a short taxi ride to Male airport. The speedboat transfers are cheaper but also tougher on your stomach. Jemko met us where the domestic flight landed and escorted us on the short speedboat ride to Kamadhoo. The island only about 500 metres long but has a tourist beach on the southern edge, with a great reef just offshore. We hired snorkelling gear from Jemko but there were other watersports rental places on the island. Jemko organised a fantastic breakfast for us. There are at least one or two other restaurant/cafes on the island, we ended up eating at Akamadoo restaurant every night as the quality was great and the prices very reasonable. Jemko also organised a turtle snorkelling trip, a trip to a isolated sandbank and sunset fishing. All of which were very reasonably priced and great fun. We saw more turtles than we could count and Jemko's family cooked us the fish that we caught while fishing. While there are small convenience stores on the island, they didn't seem to be open whenever we walked past so suggest you bring whatever else you need with you. All in all, a great guesthouse and island. Great touches like providing us with filtered water in glass bottles to reduce single-use plastics. It was nice to see how Maldivians lived rather than being cooped up on a resort island the whole time.
