I booked this place for my mum and my grandmother and it ended up being a really stressful experience. The check-in instructions were sent way too late, basically when they were already arriving, and they had no mobile data as they had just travelled from Spain to Portugal. So they couldn’t even access the instructions or get inside. Also, nowhere on the Booking.com listing did it mention that this was a self check-in property, which made the whole situation even worse. If I had known this in advance, I would never have booked it for them, especially given their age. While they were trying to figure it out, a neighbour told them it looked like a scam and that only students lived there. That obviously made them panic, and they ended up leaving straight away to find somewhere else. They also didn’t feel safe in the area at all, it just gave a really bad vibe. When I spoke to the host, he said that if the room got rebooked, he would refund the nights. Later on I checked Booking and the room wasn’t available anymore, so clearly it had been rebooked. But after that he was completely unhelpful and inconsiderate, ignoring all my messages and declining my calls. Honestly one of the worst experiences I’ve had booking accommodation. I would avoid this place.
