Apartment Liberdade

Good location, clean, plenty of room.

Steep and narrow 2 flight staircase. Not easy to carry anything beyond hand luggage up the stairs.

Location is walking distance to the city. Close to very good cafes and bars. People have said about traffic noise, but we didn't find that an issue

As mentioned by others, tricky stairs for an older couple - steep and reduced lighting. Only one light worked in stairwell.

The location was clean, with everything one might need to live in Lisbon for as long as they want. The well equipped kitchen was very useful in cooking our own food for very cheap. The central position offers ease of access to the metro and all of Lisbon. The host was very kind and offered great explanations and directions, both for the apartment and also for important nearby retaurants and attractions around the city. The whole process was simple and clear. Overall a great experience with the objective caviat above, if it applies to you.

Entering and reaching the apartment was a bit of an experience. We found it funny, but if you are large in size, more elderly or carry big luggage you might find it difficult. The entrance is an old double door type, with only half of it opening. The resulting entrance space is rather tight. The stair leading up was totally fine, but it took us a bit to realise how to turn the lights on (switch on the left, next to the door). Older building with thinner walls - some sound can be heard from outside/neighbors. It's only an issue of you know yourself to be very sensitive to noise.

Is well located for tourism

The entrance to the building should be advertised, is really small and the stairs and very inclined. For families traveling with adults or with persons with some health issue in the knees I do not recommend it.

Given the hilly location of Lisbon, it was good to get in and out of the city.

Although step access to the room was mentioned, the stairs were very steep-31 with a turn at the top, and poor lighting, and a handrail only one side, which made access with any baggage etc difficult and dangerous. Also the front door step is very small and broken and needs attention. The front door was split in 2 and difficult to access, and hardly any space to stand at the bottom of the stairs with bags. The difficult stairs were not made clear enough in the property description. Extension plugs in apartment were poor fitting. There was no information in the apartment about the area, apart from a warning that towels should be looked after otherwise fines would be applied, and there were stains on pillows and the mattress protector.
