Hotel I’m not much of a scathing review artist, but this stay was the worst of our trip. This accommodation should not have been listed where it was. Rather than AirBNB, we found this listing on booking.com, making us think it was a hotel or motel. Even with the shared bathroom and kitchen (if you can call it that) space, it still wouldn’t qualify as hostel/hotel lodging. The “free parking” is merely street parking. The kitchen is unavailable for use (except water). There are passive aggressive sticky notes throughout the house that make it clear guests aren’t welcome, just taking up space in someone’s house. I love a good AirBNB, but first of all, I want to feel like I’m not burdening my host with my existence, and secondly, I want to know that I’m getting an AirBNB when I’m getting one. To the hosts - Get off of booking.com and stick to AirBNB only. If guests are not going to be able to use the kitchen, consider providing tea supplies in their room, or anything to make it more homey or welcoming. Notes like “please take your towels back to your own room,” on the heated towel rack, the very clear list of things NOT to do instead of being in any way welcoming, along with the ranking system of stars on the fridge (“anything less than 4.6 is considered a failure”) pushes a very clear agenda. But to get five stars, lass, you need to create even a small sense of hospitality. On a positive, the house was clean and tidy. The price point was good. The bed was fine. For other notes of interest, the walls are thin enough to clearly hear conversations, the bed and room is small, but the place was comfortable enough to lay our heads at the end of the day. I did not feel like we could even whisper in the room, yet alone watch something on our phones. There is some kind of incense or scent in the room that is pleasant, but quite overpowering by morning. In summary — according to the very clear chart on the wall, “there were major problems with my stay.”
