Schönes geräumiges Haus mit gut funtionierendem Equipment.

Die Stufen zu den Schlafzimmern sind gewöhnungsbedürftig: Besonders nachts wenn man zur Toilette muss, sind sie nicht ungefährlich. Kein SAT-TV, nur norwegische Sender.

Mycket trevligt och familjärt ställe

Widok z okna bajeczny. Duzy salon, trzy sypialnie na piętrze. Kuchnia bardzo dobrze wyposażona. Dom stoi na uboczu od głównej drogi, można odpocząć. Cisza i spokój.

Smedvikhuset liegt sehr schön am Sundklakkstraumen gegenüber von Gimsoya. Man hat vom Wohnzimmer und von der Terrasse einen schönen Blick dorthin. Die Gegend und Straße sind sehr ruhig. Das Haus war für uns (2 Personen) sehr groß und auch sehr praktisch und vollständig ausgestattet. Mit Schlüsselbox war der Checkin/out simpel. Einige wunderschöne Wanderziele und Sehenswürdigkeiten sind vom Smedvikhuset gut erreichbar.

Der Herd schaltet sich aufgrund der Tatsache, dass der Dampfabzug anscheinend zu wenig schafft, immer mit Piepsen ab. Man kann ihn dann wieder einschalten, aber das ist ein wenig nervig. Aber sonst hat alles gepasst ! Bestens !

It is a really nice cosy house with lovely fjord views but the issues we faced on our first night really derailed the experience (see below). Nonetheless, the hosts were very contactable, although the trouble is no WhatsApp, the only way to communicate is through Booking.com app or costly international calls.

Really didn't understand why there are 2 electrical devices in the house which obviously couldn't be used. To cut long story short, we arrived on a cold, rainy night and found there were 2 small mobile heaters on second floor. Thought will be a good idea to switch them on rather than set up a fire. Nope, it caused a blackout. We had to call for help, & thankfully we did manage to reach someone. But it was a long, frustrating process to figure out it wasn't simply switching the box on and we had dinner in the dark before we learnt the fuse blew & had to be replaced. After we got power back, we thought maybe 2 heaters were too much, so we only switched 1 on. But not long after, the fuses blew again & we had to go through the process of replacing the fuse again. To the owners' credit, I was told they are changing the electricals so I guess our incident will be the last. Also, we got a small refund for the extra fuses we bought as safeguards for our subsequent nights which also covered my phone calls.

This delightful property was cheaper and twice the size of the modernised fisherman's hut where we'd stayed the week before in popular but crowded Moskenesaya. A picture window looked out onto sea and hills. The hiking was strenuous, spectacular and mostly unfrequented. We saw no-one on walks up Haveren, Storknubben and Haven, one other party on Svarttinden, and about a hundred on Hoven. The grass coastal track north from Steira makes a pleasant stroll on a rest day.

We couldn't get the main heating working downstairs, and there were no instructions for it, but it didn't matter because we could use the two fan heaters supplied.
