I was greeted with a warm welcome. The bed was very comfortable, the jacuzzi/pool was nice after a long day of walking, the coffee and pastries were delicious. It really exceeded my expectations. The staff was very helpful and friendly and cleaned the rooms really well. They even tied up and organized my cords and chargers. I can't wait to come back.

I have been staying at Cuale for many years now, this is my favorite place to stay in Puerto Vallarta. Great location in a safe area, close to many markets, taco stands, restaurants and Cuale island with an easy 10 minute walk to the beach. Secure and safe - entry doors are always locked at all times of the day and night requiring an access card for entry. Each room has a security monitoring panel near the door with camera access to the lobby and pool. A large programmable safe is located within the room that will fit a smaller laptop (Lenovo ThinkPad style for reference) Comfortable beds, clean linens extra blankets and pillows provided. Amazing friendly staff on site, Lucy will always ensure you're taken care of and has been an absolute pleasure for many years. Fresh coffee, pastries and fruit provided on the rooftop common area each morning (except Sunday) Ample kitchen amenities for doing your own cooking with a full sized fridge with freezer, microwave, blender and coffee press. The water for drinking, showering and washing is all purified and safe to consume without having to purchase bottles or worry about. This is a major advantage over the majority of places in Mexico. Strong wi-fi - no issues connecting and maintaining a VPN connection for working. The owner and staff feel more like family every time I visit, they are all incredible and treat everyone amazing.

Having to leave is always disappointing. Because of how amazing this hidden gem is, it has become more difficult to book due to increased popularity. For some, the sounds of Mexico may be unfamiliar to those traveling from other "quiet" countries. There are disposable ear plugs provided for sleeping in the rooms and even though Cuale is located blocks away from the night clubs and busy party scene of the Malecon and Romantic Zone, there are the normal sounds of Mexico like roosters, dogs, bells on the garbage trucks, cars with loud sterios, children playing later than what some may be accustom to, which may be deemed disruptive to some. The rooms are not sound proof to the outside world and I wouldn't expect them to be. (Personally this is no issue for me, I love and respect the culture and enjoy and embrace the difference from "quiet" Canada). However some may find this disruptive if not aware or accustomed to the difference.

We absolutely loved our stay! The apartment was spacious, impeccably clean, and thoughtfully stocked with everything we needed, including some delightful welcome snacks and sodas. The rooftop lounge is truly a standout feature, as other reviews mention. With its hot tub, pool, cozy bar area, soft music, and breathtaking panoramic views, it felt like a slice of paradise—we’d return just to enjoy that rooftop again! The location is also excellent: it’s close to some nice restaurants and just a 15-minute walk to the heart of the Romantic Zone. We initially wondered if the walk might feel long, but it turned out to be an easy, enjoyable stroll that went by quickly. Highly recommended!

This isn’t the fault of Cuale, but it’s worth noting that the neighborhood dogs are truly dedicated barkers—they kept at it late into the night and started early in the morning. To make the most of your stay, bring earplugs and use a sleep sound app on your phone. With those little preparations, you’ll enjoy a wonderful stay.

Cuale Apartments has been thoughtfully designed by the owners to create the perfect stay. We were here for 8 nights and it was so relaxing. The 3rd floor apartment was exactly like the photos, stylish and comfortable with a south facing, sunny balcony. My favourite area was the roof deck. It had multiple areas for relaxing, including hammocks, furniture for dining and drinking at, and sun loungers by the pool. Architectural plants added to the look together with murals. The pool, although small, was big enough to do diagonal laps. I loved the nighttime lighting which created a beautiful ambience for supping on some of the tequila provided for guests. Breakfast of pastries and tea and coffee was supplied in the outdoor kitchen every morning. Lucy, the head housekeeper was very kind and attentive, she supplied us with a coffee maker and coffee for our room after we’d missed breakfast one day. The location is fabulous, in a quiet area but close to small, independent cafes, restaurants and bars. Also a short walk to Cuale Island, with its weekend market. This place exceeded my expectations and I will return soon.

Nothing to dislike

Very comfortable space and location. The rooms come with lots of space, a full kitchen, and a very comfy bed. The location is quiet and convenient without being as busy as other parts of town. We got to fully enjoy the rooftop terrance which includes a pool, hot tub, lounge chairs, hammocks, and shower to rinse off. As a bonus, all water on the property is filtered and safe to drink. A simple, but delicious breakfast of pan dulce, fruits, and coffee is provided each morning. Staff is also extremely friendly.

The space around the bed was a bit tight and the shower has a half panel door which lets a good amount of water to spread onto the floor. Not sure if the rooftop is smoke free, but people smoking hampered our experience at times.
