"Excellent Afternoon Tea. Will definitely be going again!!"

10.0

Daughter (12) and I went for afternoon tea. At quite short notice the helpful and friendly staff put together a great selection of food and went out of their way to make sure we had a good experience. It was a lovely Easter Holiday treat for us both!!

"Superb afternoon tea"

10.0

We've just had afternoon tea at Rowley Manor. It was absolutely superb, even better than the last time we went. A lovely lady served us and the service was excellent. She couldn't do enough for us. The food was beautiful and fresh, excellent scones and served with clotted cream. There was so much served that we had to bring cakes and mousse home in a box. Well recommended.

"Terrible"

2.0

We went to Rowley Manor for a three course meal and a disco, there were 30+ people there. The food was horrendous all three courses tasteless cold and not worth the money we paid. I was one of the guests that unfortunately stayed over, shower didn't work at all, no plug in the bathroom sink, massive crack all the way along the ceiling white tape on the windows instead of putty, bathroom light cord come off in my hand so had a mini disco in our room it was flashing that bad. The main entrance was absolutely discussing, pots on the floor catching the rain, wallpaper hanging off the walls and some kind of sheet pinned to the ceiling which was probably covering a hole. The side door entrance we used, had a really wobbly paving stones on it.(An accident waiting to happen). Breakfast was not good either but a slight improvement on the Three course meal. I would not recommend anyone to stay or eat here. The place is rundown and needs a lot of money spending on it to get it back to it's former glory. Just a word of warning. Be careful when driving down the track to the house it's full of pot holes.

"Absolutely awful"

2.0

Absolutely awful! Place was shabby, wallpaper peeling off the wall, bare plasterboard on parts of ceiling and very dodgy repairs on other ceilings- the entrance had a leaking ceiling and very wonky pavers on step near side door which was an accident waiting to happen! The food was even worse - tomato & basil soup very small portion and tasteless with an uncooked shop bought bread roll! Prawn cocktail (well it should be called Shrimp cocktail they were that small) served with stale sliced bread. Beef dinner - beef was inedible just a large lump of gristle, cauliflower was rock hard, gravy was just brown water, soggy Yorkshire puds and very very lumpy mash potato! Pudding, rhubarb crumble was tasteless and looked like it had been frozen then defrosted again; sticky toffee pud was cold and left a metallic taste in your mouth! There was 30+ of us and not one person had a good meal! Far too expensive for very poor quality. We will NOT be returning.

"Relaxing afternoon tea"

My mum and I had an afternoon tea at Rowley Manor this afternoon. My mum had a gift voucher for Christmas purchased from the hotel. It was a lovely relaxing experience. It was nice and quiet and the staff could not do enough for us. Thank you for your help!

"Afternoon Tea for Mothers Day"

6.0

I’m struggling with this review. We visited yesterday for an afternoon tea treat with mum. Overall we had a pleasant afternoon but it was not fantastic. The afternoon tea itself was ok, just ok. I thought the selection was below average. The only savoury was finger sandwiches and 2 tiny warmed up sausage rolls. The white bread was very dry/stale. No butter for the scones, which were quite small. A little selection of cakes was ok. I didn’t think that the food we got was worth the price really. There are other local venues with afternoon tea for this price with a much much higher standard. The service was hit and miss. Very pleasant staff but often nowhere to be seen. We were only offered hot drinks after asking (after the food was gone as there was nobody about to ask for a long time), then we realised we had no milk on the table and again there was nobody to ask. By the time we got milk the coffee was stone cold. One girl did ask how everything was just after the food came out but other than that we didn’t see anyone really. Someone needs to be in the dining room to make sure everything is going ok. As we left I looked around and every vacated table was still uncleared so it looked a real mess. The venue is very tired. It’s desperately in need of updating everywhere. The front door isn’t in use even. It felt very neglected. The napkins on the table were damp too. By the time I realised my dress was damp. As I said it wasn’t awful. I was surprised at the experience given the lovely place it once was. I was expecting something higher standard. I’m not sure if I’d return. Certainly not soon. I do sincerely hope it gets better as it’s a lovely place. I think lots needs to improve and I hope it does.

"Excellent"

8.0

Despite the obvious damage to the property as a result of roof damage, the wonderful character of the building shines through. It is a delightful place in a magnificent rural setting. The staff were a delight and very attentive. The breakfasts were great and the 2 evening meals were also good. I am sure when the not unsubstantial renovations are completed this hotel will be an absolute gem.

"Love how you roll, Rowley Manor!"

10.0

We had a lovely overnight stay for our anniversary and were pleasantly surprised to receive a free upgrade to a fabulous four-poster bedroom with beautiful views over the Yorkshire countryside and people playing croquet on the lawn. The 400 year old rectory building is full of history, character and old school charm. It is a bit creaky of course, due to its age, but is going through a renovation programme so look forward to seeing the improvements. The only thing it really lacks is a beautiful antique clock on the mantle piece in the wood panelled room! The vegetarian breakfast was also very tasty and the resident peacock family was a joy to watch. Hopefully, we'll be back soon.

"Not luxurious "

4.0

Whole place needs cleaned. After 10pm on the second day of my stay (confirmed on check in) got a call asking why my stuff was still in the room. Very bizarre. Rushed back to sort and was told ‘oh it’s ok’. The hotel advertises as luxury. This is not the case by any measure.
