Really enjoyed our short stay and visiting this area. Walkable distance from the station and lake. A full Japanese-style breakfast was beautifully presented with some alternatives also on offer - fruit, eggs, bacon etc. We visited in May when the hotel and Suwa generally were very quiet so we were able to enjoy the hotel facilitie - the modern reception area and onsen. Good size room with twin beds. Go for one with a lake view if possible.

お風呂部屋食事全てにおいて素晴らしかった。 ただ、朝食時にお茶やご飯のおかわりの確認をしてくれるが、頻度が高く不快に思う人がいるかもしれない。

リーズナブルでもより快適にくつろぐこともできる温泉旅館でした。 一人で利用しましたので、ベッド付きの一人用のお部屋でしたが、机も広く、きれいなお部屋でした。 温泉も24時間で利用でき、非常に快適に過ごすことができました。 駅にも近く、諏訪湖も眺めることができ、観光もしやすい場所にありました。 朝食も美味しく、サービスも良かったため最高でした。 1人用のリーズナブルなお部屋でもグレードの高いお部屋でもまた利用したいと思います。

Hamanoyu feels like an old grand dame from another era. The staff do their best to keep up the quality and they do a good job. My room was small and cute. The sauna and hot spring facilities were well-maintained and felt comfortable and relaxing. I only got breakfast, but it was more than adequate. I feel that not enough. People are visiting that part of Nagano these days, and that tourism is suffering, which is ironic because much of the rest of Japan appears to be booming. I hope, I can do my small part to help get the word out.

It felt like it needed to be aired out a little bit in the hallways and such. It’s a massive property so I know it’s not easy to keep air flowing, especially in the depths of winter.

Modernized Japanese style. Had everything you expected of an onsen hotel. Room of good size. Good value for money for the price we paid.

Not on lake side, though just a 5 minute walk to the lake.
