Stairs were a bit steep

Located within walking distance of the restaurant and pub. Plenty of space. Large fireplace Comfortable beds with electric blankets.

It was difficult to warm the large open space, particularly as the doors had wide gaps when closed which made it draughty. Bear in mind The temp went down 2 degrees. The steps to the upstairs bedroom is not suitable for elderly or young children.

The property had an indoor braai that was amazing during the wintertime. There were two bathrooms, and both bathrooms have showers. The water is nice and hot. The kitchen was well equipped with everything that we needed.

The stove was a small countertop oven with only two hot plates. The kitchen sink is built in a rather tight space, but it is manageable.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at this charming cottage and couldn't have been more pleased with the experience. The cottage features a cozy interior with striking red finishes that add a warm and inviting touch. One of the highlights was the indoor fireplace, perfect for relaxing by after a day exploring. The place is exceptionally well-equipped for winter stays, with thoughtful amenities like hot water bottles and electric blankets ensuring you stay warm and comfortable. Location-wise, it's incredibly convenient—just a stone's throw from the Boorgat Restaurant and Bar, where you can enjoy delicious meals and a great atmosphere. Additionally, it’s close to the town, making visits to local attractions like the planetarium or SALT observatory effortlessly accessible. Overall, this cottage is a perfect blend of comfort, style, and practicality, making it an excellent choice for a winter getaway.

A bit cold due to gaps in doors etc

The cottage is ideally located within Sutherland. The bedding was lovely and clean and crisp. The electric blanket came in handy.

Because of having to heat the cottage with a wood fire, everything smelt of smoke thereafter, even clothes we had not worn were too smokey to wear. The wood is extremely expensive and they often run out. Alternative heating in the cottage would be my recommendation. The small counter top stove/oven is only suitable to use if you are tall. A special counter should be made for it to place it at normal cooking height. A place to put all our clothing in the bedroom would have been nice. There was a wardrobe but it was padlocked.

Lanie were very friendly and helpful. She thinked of everything we could possibly need. It felt like home and there were even games to play, Coffee, tea and sugar and even braai wood, blitz and matches. Thank you Lanie & Team! Stay safe and warm.
