Great location and place to stay.

The smell upon entrance was not enjoyable, so a tip is to open the windows and then it’s fine. Would have been nice to know upfront that the living room and bedrooms itself are on basement level, and that someone lives above the apartment. But with a garden and place to sit outside, and no noise of the neighbour, it is no problem.

The welcome was amazing and the gift of cake and wine much appreciated. Based on a nice quiet suburb, very close to some very nice cafes and the centre of Funchal. The apartment has everything you could want, good wifi, TV, the beds were very comfortable and the whole apartment was spacious. Breakfast can be taken at the dining table, the kitchen table or on the patio (our choice). Place was absolutely spotless, I hope it is available the next time I am in Madeira..

The hills, however wen you realize that if you walk up the road with the the Fort Wall, and the turn right on Pont Nova and follow the road round it is only the last stretch that is steep.

Location and quiet neighbourhood

A fan will be better as too many mosquito we have to shut all the window and door, very hot inside.

We really enjoyed the garden! It had a mango tree, a large banana plant, a glimpse of the Atlantic Ocean and a wonderful terrace to enjoy our meals.

We really had to get used to the narrow, steep street and parking our rental car. Luckily we had a private parking spot and did not have to park in the street.

The apartment is spacious and well decorated. The facilities are like new and very clean. The kitchen has all we needed to cook a proper meal. The bathroom has a large shower unit that functions well. The terrace had a good size dining table and chairs for eating outside in a pleasent courtyard style garden.

The property description says the apartment is on the ground floor, however it is a basement that requires you to go down a flight of ten steps from ground level to get in. The windows are small, of frosted glass and are 2.5M off the floor, so there are no views of anything from inside the apartment. The statement refering to a sea view etc. is from the terrace. However, it did mean the apartment kept cool, so there was a plus side to the situation.

Very quiet residential district. Near to city center - 15 min walk, near to bus stop. Very spacious apartment with possibility of private parking.
